Sometimes I will think “Hey, Lara is so similar to Clara!” or “Carson is similar to Carlson!” I know that it’s obvious that these names are similar or have a letter off, but it just really throws me off when I think about it if I wasn’t originally thinking about the other name lol.
Totally!
I realized how similar [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] are recently. I’ve always loved [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and would absolutely name my daughter that… but now I realize how similar it is to my own name! Lol!
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_u]Allison[/name_u] is another I recently noticed. I love this one, as my mom is named a variant spelling of [name_u]Allison[/name_u], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] could be an honor for her.
And then there’s [name_u]Florence[/name_u] and [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]! Two of my top favorites for a girl and a boy that I realize now sound exactly the same, save for a single F.
Lol
Sometimes I forget [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Una[/name_f] are only one letter different and [name_f]Una[/name_f] is literally one of my favourite names and I have a guinea pig called [name_f]Luna[/name_f] but I still forget!
Yes! Especially when you like one and don’t like the other. I like [name_f]Laura[/name_f], but but [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f]? [name_m]Eh[/name_m].
Yes! The main one I remember is when I realized [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] are practically the same but with the D and S sounds flipped
It’s too bad because I would totally use both of them but after realizing that I decided they were too similar for sisters. I do say the S in [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] more like a Z (dayz-ee) but I still think it’s too similar.
One day I had a revelation that the trendy [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is literally just [name_u]Beverly[/name_u] without the B. I think a lot of the “new” popular names are actually just old names with only one or two letters different and people don’t even realize it. Like [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], or even [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and [name_u]William[/name_u].
