I’d really like to honor a family member and name my son [name_u]Jay[/name_u] (middle name will be my husbands name) but it seems almost unfinished to me. More of a nickname than a formal name. I’m not a fan of the trendy [name_m]Jaylon[/name_m], jaydon, etc names so that’s not really an option. Opinions on [name_u]Jay[/name_u]? Or a more formal name that isn’t similar to the above mentioned “trendy” names?
I don’t think it seems unfinished and like the name [name_u]Jay[/name_u]. My son’s middle name is [name_u]Ray[/name_u] after a family member [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and I love the simplicity of it. It really grows on you! That being said, I also really like it as a short form for [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] or [name_m]Jacob[/name_m].
It can stand on its own
I think it can stand on its own or be a nick name for anyname that starts with a J
I think it is a handsome stand-alone! Full(er) names could be [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_u]Jermaine[/name_u], [name_m]Jareth[/name_m], [name_u]Jalen[/name_u], [name_u]Jamison[/name_u], [name_m]Jase[/name_m] ([name_m]Jayce[/name_m]).
I like [name_u]Jay[/name_u] on its own the best, followed by [name_u]Jamison[/name_u] and [name_m]Jase[/name_m].
I like [name_u]Jay[/name_u], both as a nickname and as a given name. My favorite longer form is [name_u]James[/name_u], but I think it can be a nickname for any name that starts with J.
I don’t think it sounds unfinished. [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is a cool name, and a nice nature connection with the bird. I wouldn’t assume [name_u]Jay[/name_u] was for a nn for a longer name, but any J name would work.
[name_u]Jay[/name_u] is a great name on its own.
I agree with others that it sounds great on its own and not unfinished.
I think it’s awesome by itself!
