one syllable
Okay, I’m super weird about this! If we are referring to it as a name (like the singer), then I say it as one syllable. However, if we are talking about an object (like a precious jewel), then I say it with two! I have no clue why haha. But yeah, my answer would be one syllable.
I say it with two syllables!
I would call it 1.5. Joo-wl. I guess the way I say it it’s closer to 2, as there’s definitely a w in there (as opposed to jool), but the second syllable extremely short.
Originally I thought it was one, looking at it, but now that I look like an idiot repeating it to myself I realized I say it ju-ul with two syllables. One is probably the right way… But it feels weird saying Jool out loud. I can’t even do it, it comes out with two.
I say it with one syllable.
This is exactly how I feel/say it! I voted for two syllables, because it’s closer to two then one the way I say it!
This is how I say it too.
This is my thought as well. I love the name!
Je-wel for me.
I say jew-uhl, two syllables. I’ve definitely heard it with one syllable and it doesn’t sound weird that way when I hear it but I find it harder to say as one syllable. I think it’s one of those words/names where you have to expect that people will say it more than one way, and be okay with that if you use the name, especially since it’s an actual word that people will already have their own way of saying apart from your child’s name.
In my accent, jewel/[name_f]Jewel[/name_f] is always “jool.”
I never knew [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] could be pronounced with one syllable. It sounds odd and not very pretty to me. It’s Jew-uhl for me.
