We’re considering the first name [name]MAE[/name] with the middle name [name]MARIE[/name]. Is this a weird combination because both names have an origin of [name]Mary[/name]? Should we not use two names with the same name origin? Looking for honest opinions. Thanks.
It’s not my favorite combination, but it’s not horrible. I prefer a little longer mn with [name]Mae[/name] as a fn-- [name]Mae[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Mae[/name] [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Mae[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], etc.
I’m not a fan - sorry! I find it sounds very similar to mammary.
Lol at mammary.
[name]How[/name] about…
[name]Maeva[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Maisie[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Myra[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Marissa[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Marlena[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Madeline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
Too similar for me. I prefer longer mn with [name]Mae[/name] as a fn, as well.
It does nothing for me. [name]Mae[/name] is cute for a nickname but really boring my itself and I consider [name]Marie[/name] a filler middle name. It’s so overused.
It feels a bit repetitive to me- probably because I’m not a fan of alliteration. I agree with @davisellu that short [name]Mae[/name] should have a longer middle name.
I love both names! However I do agree that said together it is a little odd, I guess they run together a bit. I think even [name]Mae[/name] [name]Marian[/name] is better, just making the middle longer.
I think it’s fine especially if [name]Marie[/name] has special significance to you. I think too much emphasis is placed on middle names at times - I doubt any of my friends know my middle name. I have a [name]May[/name] (love [name]Mae[/name] too) and her middle name is [name]Rose[/name] after my much beloved grandmother. [name]May[/name] [name]Rose[/name] breaks all the naming rules, same syllable count and two word names together but I still love her name, if this is a combination you love then go for it.
Sounds like a cartoon character to me, sorry.
Too similar with me. I agree that [name]Mae[/name] should have a longer middle name.
[name]Mae[/name] needs a longer middle name, as others have said. As soon as I read the mammary comment, I realized that was how it was going to sound, like mammary was mispronounced.
I think its fine. It might be different if it was first and last name, but its first and middle. She’ll have another name too, for instance [name]Mae[/name] [name]Marie[/name] [name]Smith[/name] (short name) or [name]Mae[/name] [name]Marie[/name] [name]Davidson[/name] (long name) both sound nice, in my opinion. I also like what the previous poster said about [name]May[/name] [name]Rose[/name] working in her family. I agree!
I knew a young lady whose FIRST name was MayMarie, and she was honestly one of the kindest, gentlest and smartest people I ever met. I loved her name. It was like singing a song to say it. If you like it then go for it!
I think [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Marie[/name] are both fine names but perhaps not the best sounding combo because they are so similar. What is the surname? [name]Do[/name] you plan to call her Maemarie?
What are some other combos you are considering?
Hmm has a rhythm kind of like potpourri… I think it would probably be alright, so long as it wasn’t a double barrel. Very few people are always called by their first and middle.
It sounds sort of terrible, like mammary mispronounced. Besides, there’s nothing substantial about it, and it’s a little boring.
I like alliteration and think this is a cute combo. I know someone who had the name [name]Jeanette[/name] [name]Joan[/name] (which both stem from the same name too).
If your having doubts - there are some great suggestions from previous posters to fill it out a bit.
Thanks for the input! Surname is Strong. We would call her [name]Mae[/name], not Maemarie.
Our daughter is [name]Claire[/name] [name]Cosette[/name]. Also considering [name]Lydia[/name] for baby #2. [name]Marie[/name] is a family name to honor husband’s side. Not sure if I love [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. But, we don’t have to use [name]Marie[/name]…
It does sound like mammary, or maiming to me. A different middle name is needed imo.
