Came across the name [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and I love it! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it flows well with older sisters [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]?
Our other top names are [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f], but [name_f]Mira[/name_f] stands out at this point.
She will most likely have blonde hair and blue eyes like older sisters (in case a visual helps).
It’s pretty. I prefer both [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f], but [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is nice. The only thing I would say is that it feels very current - part of the [name_f]Mila[/name_f]-[name_f]Lila[/name_f]-[name_f]Layla[/name_f] wave of names which are popular at the moment.
Out of interest, where are you? I only ask because here in the UK the name [name_f]Myra[/name_f] is linked to a notorious serial killer - definitely something to bear in mind if you’re in the UK too!
I also love [name_f]Mira[/name_f]! The only Miras I have known have been South [name_f]Asian[/name_f], and grown women, so I don’t think of it as “current” but rather timeless. Also, truly international, with roots in many different languages, so I think it could suit a little blond-haired girl (and eventually grown woman) very well.
As to flowing with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], I’d say [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] (nickname [name_f]Mira[/name_f]) would be a closer match, but on the other hand I think [name_f]Mira[/name_f] totally works as a stand-alone name too (after all [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is also two syllables and mostly nickname-proof).
I think that [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] are dramatic names, while [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is soft. I actually keep thinking it would be a good middle name for a [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]! But for a sister, I think that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - a stronger name - is the best match. I also halloween’s suggestion of [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]!
Go with [name_f]Mira[/name_f]! It is much more important to choose the name you love rather than the perfect sibling match, especially when [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], and [name_f]Mira[/name_f] are nice together. If you still have concerns I like pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Mira[/name_f].
[name_f]Mira[/name_f] isn’t what I would instinctively pick it for a sister to [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], but it’s nice. I’m curious as well how you’re pronouncing it?
I would pronounce it Meer ah. [name_u]Love[/name_u] all the feedback! I’m considering [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] (Nickname [name_f]Mira[/name_f]) now as well.
I personally would use [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] over just [name_f]Mira[/name_f], especially if you live in an area with a big Spanish-speaking population. [name_f]Mira[/name_f] means “look” in Spanish, used as a command to have someone look at you/something. I say it to my daughter all the time. If that doesn’t bother you, then use it.
