My DH and I for quite a while have loved the name Zelda, and it was our top name if we had a second girl. But since then, my SIL had a little boy named Lincoln who the whole family occasionally calls Link for short.
After that, I pretty much struck Zelda from the list. But now that we’re pregnant, I’m starting to wonder if I was hasty in discounting Zelda. Although we see our nephew fairly frequently, maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal? Our second baby will be the 5th to join that cousin crew, so it’s kind of unlikely that Link and Zelda would be paired exclusively, and like I said they don’t exclusively call him Link.
My DH actually thinks it would be kind of cool to have a Zelda and Link in the family so he doesn’t care about the connection
What do you think, Berries? Is it usable?
Edit to add that I’m referencing the Legend of Zelda video games series - the main character’s name is Link and Princess Zelda is a key character.

I don’t know why it wouldn’t be usable, so I’m gonna vote for that it’s fine

I do think of the game, but if anything it’s a nice link (pun intended) between cousins. Also seeing as he doesn’t exclusively go by [name_m]Link[/name_m], it definitely isn’t a good reason to give up as awesome a name as [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]!

I don’t think it’s reason to write off a name you love!! If it were siblings, I might caution against it, but I think it could make a fun connection between cousins. Maybe they could even play the game together someday!

I do think of the game but it’s not a bad association and I don’t think it should make [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] unusable!

I don’t get the reference, so I’m gonna say it’s fine, especially since they’re cousins!
Absolutely love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] btw!!

Haha I probably should have included the reference to the [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] games in the original post
It’s nice to know that not everyone automatically thinks of it!
They’re not siblings, it’s totally fine imo

That’s what I’m starting to think too! It’d probably be too much for a sibset, but as cousins it doesn’t seem like a big deal.
It’s quite sweet and funny really! If they were siblings, I’d say it was too much, but I don’t think two cousins out of a larger group with non-video game names is an issue. Go for it! [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is fab

I doubt many people will make this connection… Im familiar with [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] as a video game character but I don’t know about any other characters. Seems fine to me!

It’s a cute association
some adults will definitely pick up on it but it isn’t a bad thing.

I think you can use it. Would be different if it was your older child’s name but it works for cousins.
[name_m]Link[/name_m] & [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] = video game in my mind but (for example) [name_m]Link[/name_m], [name_u]Allison[/name_u], [name_m]Bronco[/name_m], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], & [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] works!

No, I don’t think that’s unusable! I may just be speaking for myself, but I’m not sure most people would make that connection… especially if they’re cousins, not siblings! It’s just a cool little connection, not a sibset theme, so I think it’s cool! Zelda is such a pretty name.

That’s actually really cute. I don’t think it makes it unusable at all!

For cousins, I think the connection falls in the sweet-and fun-category rather than the too-much category! I wouldn’t write off the name on this basis!

I didn’t know what the connection was until you explained it. [name_m]Even[/name_m] then, I think it’s cute rather than a problem. I’d go for it.
