I wanted to get y’all opinion on this but do you think siblings should names with a similar amount of popularity eg. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] , [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or do you think names it’s okay for siblings names to vary in popularity eg. [name_f]Adela[/name_f] , [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]?
I think it’s fine if they vary - so long as you love the names. Plus, I think names with different levels of popularity can still sound cohesive . As an example, I’ve known siblings [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] - all which have very different rankings in the UK but still seem like siblings - kind of like the example you listed.
Yes, it may raise questions if one kid was [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and the other [name_m]Endymion[/name_m], or if one was [name_u]James[/name_u] and the other [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f] but usually I think it’s fine
Totally agree. I am more into vibe/feel, meaning and imagery a name conjures.
I love more feminine whimsical-ish names for girls (they tend to conjure lighter/cool images) and more solid masculine names for boys (These tend to give me more warmer images). Popularity never really enters my mind.
Ideally, yes. You don’t want one kid who’s known as [name_m]Tom[/name_m] K (or even worse if there’s another [name_m]Tom[/name_m] with the same surname initial, as there was in my lass for 4 years), being jealous of his brother having a unique name, or the child with the unique name being jealous that everyone knows how to spell and pronounce their siblings name. However, there is a very long list of things which are nice to match with siblings names, and fitting all of them - and finding a name you like - can be impossible. As Greyblue said, having the same feel is more important. Both [name_m]Jaymz[/name_m] and [name_m]Boris[/name_m] are out of the top 1000, but [name_m]Jaymz[/name_m] would go must better with #37 [name_m]Jaxon[/name_m] and [name_m]Boris[/name_m] with #22 [name_m]David[/name_m]. A timeless classic can go well with an underused “old person” name. There are much more important things.
