Does Sloane work with our last name?

We are expecting our baby girl this summer and would really love your honest, candid thoughts on the name [name]Sloane[/name] paired with our last name, [name]Cain[/name].

This pairing has two factors giving me pause–the 1st syllable first name/1st syllable last name (which I think I am able to put aside, possibly?) and then an additional consideration–both the first and last name end with the ‘n’ sound. I think this might be where I am struggling. Can you share with me your opinions on this?

The only other two names we have agreed on are [name]Savannah[/name] and [name]Cosette[/name]. [name]Savannah[/name] is so aesthetically appealing to me with our last name, but I hesitate a bit as I know so many (adorable) baby Savannahs. And [name]Cosette[/name] is also beautiful (and I do like the alliteration with [name]Cain[/name]), but I have read that [name]Coco[/name] is a common nickname and I know way better than to name a child [name]Coco[/name] [name]Cain[/name]…

It works. It’s very strong. I like it so much more than [name]Savannah[/name] or [name]Cosette[/name].

Those 3 names have such different personalities imo. [name]Sloane[/name] with your last name sounds like a strong & independent girl and it’s a name I can imagine in print…like on a book jacket or the door to an office. [name]Savannah[/name] isn’t for me, it’s kind of dated feeling and makes me think of pageant children. [name]Cosette[/name] is pretty but snooty.

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Susanna[/name]? Kind of similar to all 3.

I would kind of disagree. While I don’t have a problem with the one-syllable/one-syllable thing or with two names ending in -n together, both situations together make [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Cain[/name] feel awkward and heavy to me. Sorry!

I don’t think [name]Cosette[/name] needs a nickname, though–it’s no longer than [name]Katie[/name] and it’s shorter than [name]Savannah[/name] (and I know a [name]Savannah[/name] who has no nn), so I don’t think it needs to be shortened. [name]Nor[/name] do I think [name]Coco[/name] is the go-to nickname for [name]Cosette[/name]; since [name]Cosette[/name] is so unusual, I don’t think people associate it with a particular nickname. I’d as soon go with [name]Etta[/name], and [name]Etta[/name] [name]Cain[/name] is grand.

[name]Sloane[/name] [name]Cain[/name] is awkward when you pronounce it. My vote is [name]Cosette[/name] [name]Cain[/name]. [name]Cosette[/name] is not that common and I’ve never heard it shortened to [name]Coco[/name]. It doesn’t really need a nn for it.

I’m just not a fan of sloane, but sloane cain is very strong, I don’t think the flow is an issue

It feels awkward to me. A bit too clipped. I’d go for a longer first name to go with your surname. I like [name]Savannah[/name] and [name]Cosette[/name], and either would be lovely.

I don’t like the name [name]Sloane[/name] anyway, but with [name]Cain[/name] it’s even worse.

I think you need to keep looking…Together with [name]Cain[/name], it’s too harsh.

I think you guys are right:D. Back to the drawing board, starting from scratch. Your comments have helped a lot–I am realizing I don’t quite have a ‘style’ I am attracted to. But I know that starting with more than 1 syllable will help.
