Does this name sound too "old lady"?

So traditional, classic, vintage names are really not our style. We prefer sassy, spunky, strong names for girls BUT I have recently been thinking alot on the name [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. I like that it means precious and I myself adore pearls, it’s pretty much the only “gem” I’ll wear. I just can’t decide if [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] sounds like someone’s grandmother and not the little sassy southern girl I am imagining. Thoughts?

I really like it. It is a little bit old lady, but in a quirky good way.

I like it. I think that many gem names actually work well for any age. If [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] doesn’t ultimately make the cut, what about [name_f]Opal[/name_f] or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]? Also “old lady names” but ones that I have personally seen on spunky little girls and that have worked perfectly. For me, the association I have with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is actually not old ladies but The [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] Letter. Whether or not that is a positive or negative association to you depends on how you feel about the book and perhaps even literature in general.

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] has been making a comeback. It’s a little old-ladyish still, but i think it is sweet and wearable for a little girl. There’s always [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] which mean pearl…

I don’t think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is old-fashioned, it’s vintage and, because of that, stylish.

I actually love the name [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] but hubby most definitely does not. :frowning: I am a big literature fan and love the book [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] Letter but for some reason the name doesn’t really make that connection with Mr and thr book so it’s not an issue.

To me, it’s just the right amount of “old lady”. Like it’s fresh and fun enough to work on a little girl but still has a bit of clunky charm to it.

I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a gorgeous classy name. It does’t feel old lady at all it’s beautiful and could defiantly work for a southern sassy girl.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] yall think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] would be hard for others to pronounce? Some names are just hard to roll off the tongue.
