[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again, all. Following up on a previous post for a baby girl name that works with [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] as a middle name. My husband and I FINALLY think we’ve agreed on [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. But as I say “[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]” I’m not sure it doesn’t sound silly? Can I get opinions? I know we wouldn’t call her that everyday but I think on her wedding day - when the officiant says “[name_f]Do[/name_f] you, [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] _____…” and I’m wondering if it feels like naming your kid [name_f]Julia[/name_f] Gulia? All opinions appreciated!
I think it’s fine - the both have the ‘Eye’ sound in them, but not so much that the name doesn’t flow well. It’s worlds away from being the same as [name_f]Julia[/name_f] Gulia, it’s close to [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] is very nice.
Ohh, I think it is a little bit too rhymey. Perhaps a middle name between [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] would really help to space out the sounds. Both names are lovely though! Here are some ideas:
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Kenna[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
I hope you like some of these. Good luck!
I agree that a second middle name could be helpful in reducing the rhyme/repetition.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
I also agree that [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] is a bit much. I’d keep looking, UNLESS, it’s the name you and husband love.
Thank you so much for your honest feedback. I feel a little validated by most people echoing my concerns. And, my husband is super on board with adding in a second middle name to break up the rhyme scheme, so thank you for that suggestion. [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] is my sister in law’s name so we are married to that and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is the name we have agreed on most up to this point. (This can get contentious!!!) In case you are still following we are looking at:
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] Esmé [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Anji[/name_f] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] ([name_m]AH[/name_m]-nji)
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] Aven [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]
Incidentally, our son is [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_m]Harrison[/name_m].
It’s too rhymey for me. But I enjoy calling my kids by their first and middle on a regular basis. If you think her middle name will rarely be used it’s more important that you use a first name you love than a name that flows with the middle name I suppose.
