I have been obsessed with the name [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] for years. But I’m reconsidering what nickname I like best. [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] is beautiful on its own but I’m a nickname person. I like Savy but not loving them as much as I used to. I don’t mind [name_f]Vanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] but eh.
So what do you think of [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]?
Does it work at all in your mind? I love the nickname [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] for a little girl. I can’t help but smile when I say it. But would is work as a nickname for [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]?
I think it works! I also think [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] is one of those nicknames that doesn’t have to come directly from the name (like [name_u]Scout[/name_u] or [name_m]Bud[/name_m]).
I think it would work as a nn the mom gives. It all depends if it catches on with others. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], but your daughter might.
I know a [name_f]Shivana[/name_f] (almost identical in sound) who goes by [name_f]Vana[/name_f], which you could spell Vannah. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps!
Eh, it could work, but I think it makes much more sense for [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]? I wouldn’t find [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] very intuitive, personally, and would assume it was one of those nns not necessarily based on the name itself, but rather is more like [name_f]Honey[/name_f] or [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] (which is fine; I just don’t think you can really get [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] logically from [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], but I’m clearly in the minority here).
I feel the same as @ashthedreamer. I can see [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] as a term of endearment used amongst close friends and family, no problem. If it’s meant to be used more widely, I feel you’d have to choose to lead with either [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] or [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and stick with that choice for that particular setting. The names are too disparate for me to casually swap and change in the moment.
