In theory, since [name]Elspeth[/name] and [name]Elise[/name] are both forms of [name]Elizabeth[/name]…could [name]Elise[/name] be a NN for [name]Elspeth[/name]? I don’t like [name]Elsie[/name] much, but I adore [name]Elspeth[/name]!
[name]Elise[/name] could be an nn for [name]Elspeth[/name], but since most people shorten [name]Elise[/name], I’m not sure there’s much of a point using [name]Elise[/name] as a nickname. Personally, I love [name]Ellie[/name]. It works on all ages and it makes me think of someone who’s funny and sweet. [name]Do[/name] you feel the same way about [name]Ellie[/name] as you do [name]Elsie[/name]?
I suppose [name]Elise[/name] could be a nn for [name]Elspeth[/name], but since they’re the same length, syllable-wise, I guess I don’t really see the point (especially since you’re adding sounds in the middle of the NN). I mean, [name]Elspeth[/name] nn [name]Ellie[/name] I could see, but [name]Elspeth[/name] nn [name]Elise[/name] is a bit of a stretch, and it’s no more short than [name]Elspeth[/name] is already, which is usually the point of nicknames. Why not just [name]Elise[/name]? But yeah, definitely, I do think it could work.
