Does this sound funny?

I havent even proposed this name yet because I’m not convinced it’ll work with our surname. Tell me if it works or not, though.

[name_u]Ira[/name_u] Rockw**l?

Too much with the R’s? I like the name but not attached to the last. Sounds like a stutterer claiming that he rocks well.

On a side note, is [name_m]Robert[/name_m] off the table too? What’s everyone’s stance on alteration?

I think [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Rockwell[/name_m] could work but for the reason you mentioned it trips me up. I also think alliteration is okay in some cases, but [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Rockwell[/name_m] is a lot. It’s because [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and [name_f]Ro[/name_f] repeats and so does the two syllable construction so it’s just too much repetition.

I actually find [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Rockwell[/name_m] much worse than [name_u]Ira[/name_u].

[name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Rockwell[/name_m] isn’t awful at all. I don’t think the flow is that bad.

I think [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Roc[/name_m]*well works quite nicely. [name_m]Even[/name_m] with [name_u]Ira[/name_u] being so shirt the overall name doesn’t feel too heavy.

[name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Roc[/name_m]*well feels like too much. The [name_f]Ro[/name_f] beginning on top of both names being too syllables pushes it over the edge for me.

While it isn’t my style alliteration is fine! As long at the names don’t overly match beyond sharing the same first letter it can sound really nice.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] yes the last name is rockwell would anyone like my ssn

I find [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Rockwell[/name_m] and [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Rockwell[/name_m] a bit hard to say. The Rs kinda turn into Ws, lol.

I think alliteration in general is good, but as a previous poster mentioned, the names have to be distinct in other ways. In [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Rock[/name_m], the r’s run into one another, and in [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Rock[/name_m], it’s two “[name_f]Ro[/name_f]” names with two syllables, which may be too much.

I personally love repeated sounds between first and last names, when they aren’t in the same position within each name.

For example these all have strong “r” sounds:

  • [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*
  • [name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*
  • [name_m]Byron[/name_m] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*
  • [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*
  • [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*

Or, repeated first initials but distinct name characteristics:

  • [name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*
  • [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*
  • [name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]*

Good luck!

I like [name_u]Ira[/name_u] better. The repetition of [name_f]Ro[/name_f]-[name_f]Ro[/name_f]- with [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is too much for me.

There’s some people with your surname in my family tree, and some names of theirs I think sound good with the surname are [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m].

I think [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is fine. I like alliteration and the [name_u]Bert[/name_u] breaks up repeating sounds.
However, I do think [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_m]Rock[/name_m]**l sounds like someone stuttering while bragging about their ability to rock and it makes me chuckle…
