We like the name [name]Madeleine[/name] for our daughter but our last name is [name]Hutchinson[/name] which kind of rhymes. If you met a girl called [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Hutchinson[/name] would you think it sounds silly?
[name]Madeleine[/name] pronounced mad eh lun not mad e line or mad e lynn
Why don’t you choose a first name that varies from the syllable count of your last name? A full name sounds better if each of the separate names has a different syllable count each.
We like longer names that can be shortened into a cute nickname. Our first is [name]Indiana[/name] nn [name]Indie[/name]. We would like to keep within this format for our next
The French say [name]Madeleine[/name] as ‘mad-lehn’ or ‘mad-leyn’. Either way, it sounds fine with [name]Hutchinson[/name]. I can’t hear the rhyme at all O_o
I agree. I love [name]Madeleine[/name] (in French, MAD-eh-len or, actually, closer to MAD-len, with the middle syllable almost completely unheard), and I think it’d be really hard to get ‘lun’ at the end instead of lin or len. Most people, when I ask them how they’d pronounce [name]Madeleine[/name], it’s never what I would assume. It seems straightforward to me, but most people would say it like Mad-eh-line, not mad-eh-len, so I think the pronunciation, could give you quite a headache. I love [name]Madeleine[/name], though, and I don’t really find [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Hutchinson[/name] to be too rhymey. It’s a beautiful name.
Nope, doesn’t sound stupid. The combo is slightly on the rhyming side, but really it’s fine. If it doesn’t bother you, it isn’t going to bother anyone else. I’m confused about the spelling and pronunciation…you want “lun” not “lin”?
I don’t think it sounds stupid. But I don’t think your pronunciation makes sense at all. [name]How[/name] could “leine” ever be pronounced “lun”? There’s nothing in there to make the U sound. Mad-eh-len or Mad-len would be closer to the actual French pronunciation. If you pronounce it correctly, it won’t rhyme. Problem solved!
Yeah I probably should have written len instead of lun. It’s hard to write out pronounciations. I guess it would rhyme with [name]Madison[/name] rather than [name]Adeline[/name] if that makes it easier. Everyone in Australia pronounces it how I would like so I don’t see it being a problem.
