Our family is about to adopt a dog. We live in NYC, so this is a pretty big deal for us. All of our kids have different ideas on what the names of the two puppies should be, so I’m hoping you can resolve what would otherwise surely be a long and extensive quarrel that would likely lead to a lot of middle names.

Question. You said two puppies? Are you getting one or two? If two, are they from same litter? If so, as hard as this will be to hear, I strongly discourage it due to litter mate syndrome. If only one, then disregard. Either way, congrats! And how exciting. Here are some name ideas:

Thanks for your advice! To clear it up, our two puppies are not from the same litter- we adopted them separately and our other pup, a little older but just as cute, is a male brown-furred [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Retriever-esque mutt named Brii (from Briikase, which means “happy” in Mandalorian according to my eldest). We decided to name the dog depicted here “Klio”, like [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] which won here. It’s not my personal favorite name, but it is my husband’s, and we all have to make spousal sacrifices. I call my two dogs “Kiki and Bouba” as a joke- they’re simply so different from eachother!
