I desperately need help choosing a baby name. This is my second boy (due in 7 weeks) and my husband and I are having a hard time agreeing on anything.
A little background: Me, my husband and first son all have Irish names that end in N (so i’m not sure if I should keep that trend going or change it up)? I’m also looking for a name with a great meaning - preferably something mythological/literary/historical? I also want a name that not every kid in his class will have. I like unique names, but not so unique that it sounds weird.
Here are my current choices (please feel free to comment on these or give suggestions on ones not listed here): [name_m]Dominic[/name_m], Kipton, [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_u]Paxton[/name_u], [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] or [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]
And the middle name will most likely be [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
I agree with pp about [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (tho I do love [name_m]Dominic[/name_m]).
Of your choices, my favorites are [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_u]Dorian[/name_u]. [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] is another idea, and I also 2nd [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. In lieu of Kipton, you might consider Kipling. I also like others’ suggestions of [name_m]Donovan[/name_m], [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], and [name_m]Walden[/name_m].
Could be clunky to some, but [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] or [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] is so handsome, fresh, and I’m loving it.
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] sounds so handsome. A second choice from your options would be [name_u]Paxton[/name_u]. I’d keep with the N at the end… or else the kid might think he’s adopted!
I think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] are my favorites from your list, and love the suggestion of Kipling, too. [name_m]Luke[/name_m] seems to fit great in the middle for any of them (excepting [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]), especially [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] : )
I love [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], but [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] doesn’t work for me. The shared L & K/hard C are problematic & the alliteration makes me think “[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] Log” which just feels too silly.
I like the idea of keeping the N ending. [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] & [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] are more classic feeling & special than Kipton & [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] in my opinion. They both work well with [name_m]Luke[/name_m].
I LOOOOVE [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. Unusual, but still masculine and totally wearable. I like the tradition of “n” names in your family. Maybe your grandkids will have the same tradition!
Also some other ideas:
[name_m]Cillian[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Eamonn[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
Finain [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Oisin[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
Absolutely [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] the suggestion of [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] (might even steal it for my list!)
