I love the nickname [name_f]Dora[/name_f], but [name_f]Dora[/name_f] as a full name… not so much. Currently, I’m trying to decide the best -dora name for me.
Current options:
[name_f]Teodora[/name_f]: traditional, but uncommon in my country. My mom wished she named me this, so, a cute family story. But I feel it lacks sparkle
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]: more sparkle, but I’m not feeling it (idk why, but it feels less tied to mythology to me, and more tied to the jewelry brand). Btw, I knew a girl named [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] who went by [name_m]Pan[/name_m].
Lilidora: probably saw it in the Invented name of the day thread. I love it! It has sparkle and its own identity, HOWEVER, the possibility of the nickname [name_f]Lili[/name_f] makes me cringe slightly.
[name_m]The[/name_m] No list:
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and [name_f]Isidora[/name_f]: relatives and unkind people from my past.
[name_f]Fedora[/name_f]: the hat and it sounds really funny in my native language.
[name_f]Nymphodora[/name_f]: I like it, but too [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].
What do you all think? [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to suggest other options, even if invented!
You’ve got a great list so far! I think my favorite for you is Teodora… I love her bright sound!
I’ll also suggest:
[name_f]Elladora[/name_f] (one of my fave names!)
[name_f]Callidora[/name_f]
[name_f]Andora[/name_f]
[name_f]Glendora[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eudora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leodora[/name_f] is so interesting!! One more for the list. I really like the name [name_f]Salvadora[/name_f], but the [name_f]Dora[/name_f] in [name_f]Salvadora[/name_f] pronounced differently from Dora-the-name in my native language
[name_f]Teodora[/name_f] is pretty - elegant and meaningful! and I like the feel of Lilidora but if you don’t like [name_f]Lili[/name_f] as a nickname, I’d avoid.
And [name_f]Musidora[/name_f] @Gingilocks101: I thought the meaning had something to do with music, but no, it’s related to the Muses (which is much better!!!). And I do like Dorotéia, however there are some variations in spelling in my language. Therefore, I don’t feel completely comfortable using the name (with and without accents, and the [name_f]Dorotea[/name_f] possibility). [name_f]Teodora[/name_f] wins in this case!
I encountered Doretta the other day in some research! I thought that was super cute. I’ll try not to repeat… Calladora Dolores Deborah / Devora (perhaps a nice way to freshen up Deborah!) Demetra Elsidore (I just made this up, idk if it’s a real name, but I lowkey really like it!) Darian Appledor (for those who have not seen BBC Sherlock)
