Doremy?

I was watching a programme and while watching the credits (great for name inspiration!) I came across the name Doremy. I thought it was intriguing and could be a great alternative to [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (which I love!) so obviously I came straight to Nameberry. But to my surprise it is not listed! So I’m curious…

Have you have met anyone called Doremy before? Perhaps like me you’ve never even heard of it.

What are your thoughts? Would you ever consider it? Go wild with middle names, sibling names etc if you fancy it.

It sounds made-up to me and I feel neutral about it. [name_f]Dori[/name_f] is cute though.

I’m sorry, it sounds like something you would call your roommate in college.

It feels like a mash-up of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]. Like a couple name (e.g. Brangelina).

Sounds made up. Sorry :frowning:

[name_f]Do[/name_f]-Re-Mi? Either Doremy’s parents were huge music lovers or they were that and obsessed with “The sound of music”. It’s could be a cute nn, but as an actual first name, I would pass. I fyou love music there are tons of other ways to express that through names.

Ha, don’t worry guys! I’m not going to be using the name :stuck_out_tongue: I was just curious if anyone had heard of it since I’d never come across it before.

I’ve never heard of it either, and like Lailanotlilah my first thoughts were do-re-mi. I’d say stick to [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], which is a great name

Never met a Doremy or heard of that name before. I much prefer [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dori[/name_f]. ADORable.

You might like: Devany (DEHV-ah-knee) , [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], or [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f]

My first thought was “[name_f]Do[/name_f]-Re-Mi.” As in do re mi fa so la ti do. The musical scale and the song from The Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f]. Actually, if I met a Doremy I’m pretty certain I would assume her parents named her with the musical scale in mind.

It doesn’t seem very substantial to me, but I don’t hate the sound of it at all. It has a whimsical feeling and would be a good name for a character.

I think it might be Australian but its pronounced Dor-a-mee the actress you’re refering to? doremy [name_u]Vernon[/name_u]- (the actress from Are you being served?) ? I have no real feelings about it other than aside from her I think its a boys name so likely unisex, suprised its not on here
