Dorothea?

This name has been on my mind a lot lately. Would love to know everyone’s thoughts on the name [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f].

Thank you!

It’s lovely regal name. I instantly think of [name_m]German[/name_m] princesses.

I think it’s beautiful. Soft but quietly strong, with a long history and some wonderful nickname options. I do prefer [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] personally but it’s a truly wonderful choice!

I like [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] - I prefer it to [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] actually - I like the sort of clunkiness it has to it, while also flowing really nicely too, plus [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is a sweet nickname option

[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] is beautiful

Yes! Totally agree with all of you about the regalness, clunkiness, soft but strong. All things I love about it. I’m thinking about using it as a MN right now though. Thanks for weighing in!

I love [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]! (It was my grandmother’s name, so maybe I’m biased  )

I adore it. It has history, spunk, and lots of great nicknames. I go back and forth on whether I prefer [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f].

Thank you!

Bumping to to see what more ppl think.

I adore [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]! To me it’s very badass and has a metal vibe (probably because of [name_f]Doro[/name_f] Pesch :D)

I love [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]! She’s so sweet and aristocratic, a little more mature than [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. I love the nicknames [name_f]Dot[/name_f], [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] too!

I have to say I’m not a fan but I can see the appeal. As someone previously said, it gives off a very regal air.

Thank you all for sharing your opinions. I’m actually really leaning towards using it as a middle if we have a girl.
