I think [name]Dorothy[/name] is cute. I really like [name]Dorothea[/name]…

I really like the name [name]Dorothy[/name] too! I prefer it over [name]Dorothea[/name].
I think of [name]Wizard[/name] of [name]Oz[/name] and a little bit of the [name]Golden[/name] Girls, but she was my favorite character on there, and I think that she gave it kind of a strong woman, no nonsense feel to the name.

For nns I like [name]Dottie[/name] and [name]Dolly[/name]. I think [name]Dolly[/name] is so cute, but so is [name]Dottie[/name]. I also like [name]Dorie[/name]. I am not a fan of [name]Thea[/name], [name]Dot[/name], or [name]Dora[/name]/[name]Doro[/name].

I see names like [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] with [name]Dorothy[/name], and [name]Henry[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Walter[/name].

Middle names: [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Gayle[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name] Annabeth, [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]…

I don’t think that it will be super popular, but who knows… There was an article that [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Walter[/name] would be popular in 10 years, so all bets are off. Good luck!

WDYT of [name]Dorothy[/name]? I adore it; [name]Dorothea[/name] is the top girls’ name on our list.

Which nickname would you use? [name]Dottie[/name] is my personal favourite - I think it is so sweet and vintage.

What middle names sound good with it? Something one-syllable, or perhaps a very long four-syllable name.

What other sibling names do you think go well with it? Anything else vintage, really. Dotsmom named her other daughters [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name], which I think are perfect examples of what goes well with it. My daughter is [name]Ambrosia[/name], and so with a sister [name]Dorothea[/name] they would be [name]Rosie[/name] and [name]Dottie[/name], which I think is perfect.

[name]Do[/name] you think that it will become popular? Not too popular, no. While vintage names are set for a revival, I think that other choices will be the ones which become popular, like [name]Violet[/name] and maybe [name]Pearl[/name].

WDYT of [name]Dorothy[/name]? I love it! I think it’s sweet and elegant, and every [name]Dorothy[/name] I’ve ever known has been a one-of-a-kind, amazing, creative, funny, warm person.

Which nickname would you use? I love [name]Dottie[/name]/[name]Dot[/name].

What middle names sound good with it?

[name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Kate[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Maeve[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], and [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] were the first to come to mind.

What other sibling names do you think go well with it?

I picture vintage names like:

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] (oops…[name]Nor[/name] and Dor rhyme)
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Helen[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]June[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Nell[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] (Oops…[name]Wizard[/name] of [name]Oz[/name] theme with the ruby slippers)
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]

[name]Do[/name] you think that it will become popular? I think it will be used more than it has been in the recent past, but I personally can’t see it becoming popular.

I think it’s a great name! (I do love the [name]Thea[/name] nickname, but I see it more as a nickname for [name]Dorothea[/name] or even [name]Theodora[/name] than I do for [name]Dorothy[/name].)

Good luck!

Hey,

I have a 2 1/2 year old named [name]Dorothy[/name]. Her full name is [name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Annelise[/name] [name]Violet[/name]. We usually call her [name]Dottie[/name]. I named her after a family member who had passed on. It was kind of one of those last minute, right before she was born decisions, but we think that her name fits her pretty well now.

At first I had my family association and the [name]Wizard[/name] of [name]Oz[/name] association with it. I had completely forgotten about the [name]Golden[/name] Girls until a couple of days after we signed the birth certificate. I don’t think that it would have changed things too much. Most people who meet her are a little surprised by her name, but kind of pleasantly surprised, if that makes sense. She has never met another [name]Dorothy[/name] or [name]Dottie[/name] her age, but had met plenty of older ones and is absolutely THRILLED about it.

We use [name]Dottie[/name], but sometimes call her [name]Dot[/name]. If she wants to go by some of the other nns or [name]Dorothy[/name], or her middle names or whatever else, we will be fine with it. We also liked [name]Dolly[/name] and [name]Dorie[/name], but decided on [name]Dottie[/name].

I liked the name [name]Violet[/name], thats what I used it as her middle name, but I think there are a lot of names that go well with it. Vintage or classic names especially.

We also have a [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Henry[/name].

[name]Do[/name] I think it will be popular? Not like it was in the 1920s and 1930s, but I think that it will be more popular. I don’t think that it made the top 1000 last year, but I may be wrong. There has been more “buzz” about it lately, so I do think there will be more [name]Dorothy[/name]'s toddling around.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!
