Double Barrel Names

If you gave your first child a double barrel name, would you give them to the rest? [name_u]Or[/name_u] would it just be that one child?

If you asked me this a few months ago I would for sure say yes but I don’t really care much about it anymore
The whole siblings having the same amount of names/ letter / vibe is just not that important to me anymore cause I feel like I have such different styles and like names that look and sound nothing alike and that shouldn’t stop me from using them

I feel like I’d just use one, tbh. The idea of all double-barrel names is a bit too themey for my taste and I think I’d struggle to find others I liked as much.

Hmm I could see [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] as siblings but not longer ones. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] starts to become a huge mouthful. But I wouldnt ever use a hyphen dunno if that makes a difference.

If I carefully planned to only have 2 kids, I may be inclined to give both a double barrel. But not necessarily, if I don’t love the combo and I’m just trying to keep with the theme.

If 3 or more were expected, then no, absolutely not giving any others a double barrel names. That would feel excessive to me (not that I dislike it for other people, just for me, personally)

I’m with @Elle1, if I knew for sure that I was only having 2 kids then I’d consider a double barrel for the second, but beyond that I think I’d end up using names that I didn’t truly love just for the sake of the pattern and I’d rather they just didn’t match.

I think based on past experiences I’d do similar syllable counts, but not necessarily another double barreled name

No, I wouldn’t feel that was necessary

[name_f]My[/name_f] mother is a double barrel and her siblings aren’t. It doesn’t seem off at all, especially because her names are short and flow well

I’d only give one child a double name! All the kids with double names would be too much for me. I like double names with classic, simple names that go easily with other names! For example, I know a Sarah Claire who has a little sister named Elise, and I think those sound sweet together. I’d love a double name for a daughter!

I think it would just be one child. I’m not too concerned about every kid having exactly the same sort of name, and I would struggle to come up with more than a few double barrels that I love equally.

Nope! I know two female siblings. The oldest has a super unusual family surname name. The younger has a super girly double-barrel (think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Catherine). Never thought too much about it.

I’m not a massive fan of hyphenated first names. I think I would only have only child with such a name and the rest I wouldn’t as I think it’s just too themed
