I’m torn between a double barrelled first name with a family middle na
me or just a normal first and middle name. Help! [name_u]Honest[/name_u] opinions please!
While I’m not super keen on double barreled names usually (just a bit picky about them) I do think [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] works really well as a double barrel! For paperwork reasons I wouldn’t hyphenate, in the electronic age hyphens can be a headache. But you could absolutely do [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] with [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] as the first, or you could have [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] alone in the first name spot and give [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] as middle names. I have 2 middles and it seems like a pretty reasonable compromise for your dilemma.
As a person with a double-barrelled last name, hyphens are absolutely a pain. But there’s nothing stopping you from giving her a double-barrelled first name without the hyphen. I knew a girl in university who went by her first and middle name all the time and no one really batted an eye.

This is good advice. Id like to include the family name and I’ve been calling her [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] not [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f].

I actually call my kids by the first and middles about as much as Incall them by just their first.

Marjorie [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] without the hyphen would get my vote

Hyphenated/double-barreled first names aren’t usually my cup of tea, although if you were to go for it, I do like [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f] well enough and I totally get wanting to get one more family name in. I would totally go for two middle names and like others have suggested, maybe use [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] day-to-day.

In that case I would fully consider [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] as the first. You could totally still call her [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] even if you put [name_f]Claire[/name_f] in the middle with [name_f]Adele[/name_f], but it would be classmates and teachers, etc. Would likely judt call her [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f].
If you want other people to also call her the full [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], then a double first is the way to go.
If you don’t mind that she’d just be [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] at school or think it would be sweet to have [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] be something special between just the two of you, then a double middle of [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] is very workable.
