I have been just sort of dipping my toes into possibly considering a different name. I go by my full name at work but go mostly by T or TJ everywhere else so I was thinking of trying to build off of that. I like the name [name_f]Tara[/name_f] but I can’t decide which way I want to say it and it is still a feminine name and I am leaning towards something more neutral (I’d say I’m questioning but the closest label so far is nonbinary woman). I got the idea to use a double barreled name for TJ and I went back to an older idea of masc-fem combo names and I came up with Theo-Joy which I think sounds neat but I can’t tell if it’s a passing fancy or if it will stick. Does anyone have any other suggestions for double barreled names that either neutral or masc/fem combo names? Also, anyone who has tried out new names, what is a low stakes way of trying it out? Has anyone tried the Starbucks order way to test out a name? Thanks!
I don’t know if any of these are helpful but I do like Theo-Joy.

(Haven’t personally changed my name or tried out a new one, but for the friends that have, they’ve asked people close to them to refer to them with the name they’re trying out (in conversation, or just in sentences - ie. Theo-Joy is coming round today) to see how they feel.)

Ooh I really like [name_f]Taryn[/name_f], [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], and [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]. Teddy-Joy?
I really like [name_u]Jem[/name_u]! [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is actually my real middle name and I kind of like the idea of keeping it, but I don’t know what to pair it with. Taylor-Jane, Teddy-Jane, Tessa-Jane?
I feel like [name_m]Terrence[/name_m] would be a great masc name choice for me. I feel like I could be a [name_m]Terrence[/name_m] I like [name_u]Juno[/name_u] and [name_u]Tali[/name_u] too.
I guess I feel like asking people means explaining a lot and then I might not even necessarily want to change anything. I know most people around me would be cool with it but I feel like I need to be more sure.
ah yeah, totally get that. might not be of any use, but if you have any online friends who would possibly ask less questions, maybe start with asking them - less intense, and less commitment maybe? Best of luck
I like Teddy-Joy!
Hey kind of unrelated to the name thing but have you heard of the label “demigirl”? It sounds like it might describe you
Yes! I definitely think that I can fall into that category though I’m leaning towards nonbinary woman these days.
