A lot of people have first and last names that start with the same letter, (ex: [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m], [name_m]Mark[/name_m] [name_m]Miller[/name_m], [name_u]Sam[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m]) it’s just not as common to see two Z names. I think it may get some comments once in awhile but it shouldn’t be a dealbreaker. Plus the nickname ZZ is fun!
Double Z initials would definitely stand out, and could be a bit much depending on the specific names, but it’s not necessarily a deal breaker. Most of the time, I think double initials are fine and often memorable ([name_m]Mike[/name_m] Meyers, [name_f]Janet[/name_f] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], etc.). But with an odd letter like Z, it does border on over the top. It could be fine, it just depends on the specific names.
Would you consider switching the order of the names? To me, that may have a better chance of working. Take a few examples:
[name_f]Zadie[/name_f] Zurich-[name_u]Morgan[/name_u] v. [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u]-Zurich- I think the former sounds a bit tongue-twister-y and the latter quite memorable.
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] Zimmerman-McKay v. [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] McKay-Zimmerman- I think the first sounds like a lot, but the latter fairly wearable.
I think in both cases, the ZZM initialed name works fine, it’s just that the ZMZ initial sounds a little better. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my two cents
I think it’d work fine. Yes, two Z’s would stand out more, but I hardly know anyone who goes by initials, so I wouldn’t really find it odd, and I likely wouldn’t really notice it in a first name-surname combo.
I don’t think the ZZ initials are an issue, but I would be concerned about the names potentially sharing too many similar sounds.
For example, my assumption is the last name would be Z@nder-M____. I personally find [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] Z@nder to be far too repetitive for my taste because it contains half of the same sounds/letters. [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] Z@nder, on the other hand, would be fine because despite sharing an initial the names don’t sound overly similar.
I am a fan of alliteration so the initials ZZM do appeal although I do agree with @namenculture that ZMZ may sound better depending on the actual names, this also goes with what @lonestar said about first name- last name combo, [name_u]Zuri[/name_u] Z@nder does sound better than [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] Z…r! However you do it Z first names are definetly a great option for you.
If it’s a name that’s usually spelled with an S, it would look gimmicky to me. If it’s a fair-and-square Z-name, I wouldn’t mind it at all
So [name_f]Zendaya[/name_f] Zeller, [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] Zeller, [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] Zeller or [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] Zeller would be completely fine with me.
[name_f]Zadie[/name_f] Zeller, [name_f]Zahara[/name_f] Zeller, Zeth Zeller or Zilas Zeller would seem like a gimmick.
Thank you, all! It seems that a double-Z name is fair game – and I’m thrilled.
I knew a [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] with a Z surname. Initials ZRZ. I LOVED her name. It was fun to say.
Double initials are definitely fine, hey mine are EEE! I think it would come down to how similar the Z surname is with the first name.
