So we are expecting can’t seem to settle on either girl or boy choices. We love the meaning of the combinations we have but I have slight issues with them all and would value your opinions.
girls:
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] -my husband’s fav- I feel uncomfortable saying
Boys:
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
At first we were decided on [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
Gideon North is cool. I see your point about North though. Would Westley be of interest?
Girls I think you should start again. I can see you like Princessy names would that be correct? -
Evangeline
Zelda
Natalia
Greta
Alessia
Bridgette
Lavinia
Loretta
Alexia
Jubilee (I don’t know why this sprung to mind but it’s princessy and from the sounds of North you like word names. Also Jubilee Aurora would be the cutest thing)
I did favor [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] some years ago but outgrew it. And funny enough I have the name [name_m]Jubal[/name_m] on my longer list but I am just not feeling it this time. Thanks for your suggestions though!
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Orianna[/name_f] just sounds too similar and also technically are the same names.
[name_f]Zorina[/name_f] means “dawn” and might be worth some consideration. It’s rare, it incorporates the “-or”, and it retains the beautiful meaning.
[name_f]Roxanna[/name_f] / [name_f]Roxana[/name_f] / [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] also mean ‘dawn’! I think this is pretty underused and striking.
[name_f]Solana[/name_f] means “sunshine” (Another variation of this name is [name_f]Solenne[/name_f])
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] means “light”
[name_f]Neoma[/name_f] means “moon”
[name_f]Enya[/name_f] means “fire”
[name_f]Nuria[/name_f] means “fire of the [name_m]Lord[/name_m]”
Are you open to meanings of “gold”, like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Auriel[/name_f]?
Although I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] & [name_f]Orianna[/name_f] is nms (word association), from the top 3 girl names you have in consideration, I would choose [name_f]Orianna[/name_f] [name_u]Ember[/name_u]. It covers all your bases: the meaning you love, the sound you like, & the nickname [name_u]Ori[/name_u], while avoiding the short length of just plain [name_u]Ori[/name_u] and the pronunciation issue of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. Plus it avoids the rhyming & repetitiveness of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Orianna[/name_f], which is a bit of a mouthful.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] seeing [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f], by the way, my great-great-grandmother’s name!
For the boys’ names, to me [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]North[/name_u] flows best by far with your other children’s names. I know plenty of people who go by their middle name from birth so to me it wouldn’t be a problem calling him [name_u]North[/name_u]. Not crazy about [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] [name_m]Mori[/name_m] (styles seem to clash) or [name_m]Hew[/name_m] [name_m]Mori[/name_m], just seems more like a video game character than a flesh-and-blood baby to me. (I do tend to like unusual names though! I think it’s just the sound. You could try [name_m]Hew[/name_m] as nn for [name_m]Hewitt[/name_m]) But since you do like that style of name, you might like one that’s been going around lately which is Oberyn, a take on [name_u]Auberon[/name_u]/[name_u]Oberon[/name_u]. [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f] “[name_f]Callie[/name_f]”, [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] “[name_u]Finn[/name_u]” & [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] “[name_m]Obi[/name_m]” sounds like a great sibling group!
Thank you for the great comments guys!
Roseofjune I really like [name_f]Enya[/name_f]!
Peanut thank you so much for your reply, it felt like a conversation with an old friend and helped me find my way back to my original picks that I was confident about before. Guess I just needed to hear it from someone apart from family. And I bet your Great Great Grandmother [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f] was a kickass lady.
