[name_u]Baby[/name_u] is arriving any moment now and despite working on names since before conception we have not made a final decision. I feel like my older children have perfect combinations as well as a good sib-set. I can’t remember if I had last minute lingering doubt before they arrived or not. We probably just need to commit. I’m not the type to have to see the baby to decide. Maybe it is just harder the more children you name.
Thoughts? Did you have last minutes jitters that maybe the name wasn’t right even though it was? [name_m]How[/name_m] did you decide?
I have very little experience with the subject (I’m expecting my first right now and in the middle of my own struggle with the name), but this thread could use more views.
I think maybe explaining your posible name choices, why you like them and why you’re iffy about them could help you organize your thoughts. I’d love to read it.
From what I’ve heard every pregnancy and child is different, so I don’t find it that strange that you maybe need to see the baby this time. You don’t have to commit to a name you don’t fully like until you have signed the papers, and even then you can name the baby something else and the name on the certificate will just be a formality.
We pulled the SSA 2016 top 1000 names list and reviewed them all together. Feeling more confident with our decision. I think I just feel the importance of it. Making a real life mutual decision is a lot harder than adding a combo to a list!
I have 5 children and I felt variant degrees of unsettle-ness and name regret. Part of it in natural I mean ur naming a human baby it’s a BIG deal. Also for me, each kid was harder and harder to name for 2 reasons 1) I now needsed a name I loved and went w the sib set wasn’t too matchy 2) having more kids means more kids friends so now I knew loads of kids w some of my fav names so I couldn’t use these names anymore. What worked for me was taking a list to hospitals of maybe 4 names max and deciding there what fit. With one of my babies I went off list chose a name I liked but not in the final cut, I did get name regret 3 weeks later and we changed his name to one of the names on original list. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps! Good luck
Thanks for the reassurance, glad to know someone else has been there. Point 2 I can relate to. Between school, playgroups etc. we are around a lot of little children which does influence our thoughts. For girls we know, there are so many [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f]! Boys [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and [name_u]Michael[/name_u].
