[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there!
We are due in 3 months and suddenly I’m doubting both names.
Our first choice had been [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] though our second choice [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] or [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Sam[/name_u] has crept up.
Our last name is 2 syllables and ends with “r”.
My concern about [name_m]Graham[/name_m] is that it might be too close to Grandma/[name_m]Gram[/name_m].
With [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] I don’t like the common nicknames- [name_m]Ike[/name_m] & [name_m]Zac[/name_m]- though my husband & I like having a nickname option.
Thoughts on my [name_m]Graham[/name_m] concern or suggestions on a different nickname for [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]??
OR new suggestions welcome as well!!!
Personally I dislike [name_m]Graham[/name_m]'s sound, but I dont think “grandma” when I hear it
It is a quite popular name so I doubt people would make grandma jokes anyway
I can only think of [name_u]Isa[/name_u] (eye-sah or ee-sah). Or, the initials IC, IJ and [name_f]IO[/name_f] could work, if you decide against [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u] (by the way, I definitely prefer [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m])
I really do not think the Grandma thing would be an issue. When you see your baby son, you will not think of gram Personally, I prefer the sound of [name_m]Grant[/name_m], but both are great!
I like [name_m]Graham[/name_m]! Also the Scottish spelling [name_m]Graeme[/name_m]. I don’t think it’s too close to Grandma/[name_m]Gram[/name_m] at all.
I prefer [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] to [name_m]Graham[/name_m] just by a bit, even though it is more popular. Stiil, both are wonderful choices.
One [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] I know is about twelve and he goes by the nn “Isy”, never seen it spelled out before but it’s said “eye-zee”. That’s the only other nn I can think of for [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]…
But I don’t know of any nns for [name_m]Graham[/name_m], either.
I love the name [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and don’t see any problems with the Grandma/[name_m]Gram[/name_m] issue.
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is okay though not my favorite name. An [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] I know goes by [name_m]Izzy[/name_m].
Have you considered [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Gordy[/name_m]. I also know a two year old named [name_m]Grant[/name_m]. Another possibility is [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Rory[/name_m].
I don’t like [name_m]Graham[/name_m], for the reasons you mentioned, and I just don’t like the sound. I also think [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_u]Sam[/name_u] just doesn’t flow well. I do like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m]. Maybe “Iz” as a nickname? I also like to have a nickname option, but don’t really feel like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] needs one, it’s pretty short and sweet as is.
I’m also due in about three months and doubting my name choices. We hadn’t decided yet but the two I’ve been sure of seem less endearing at the moment. Hubby keeps bringing up new ones, and I can’t even pin down his style, he’s all over the place, and nothing seems to fit for me. maybe it’s hormones?
What about [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]?
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m] [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] sounds good and [name_m]Jake[/name_m] is a nice nn
Otherwise what about [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] as a first name nn [name_f]Tory[/name_f]
