Down to four

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! Sorry for the spam recently, i’ve just been a little too excited and anxious to be ready for my little one!!

So… from my last poll i had the names [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Leopoldine[/name_f], [name_f]Alethea[/name_f], [name_f]Violanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Damara[/name_f] & [name_f]Isolde[/name_f].

My husband and I narrowed that list down to two, hoping that it would be between [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f].

Unfortunately and also fortunately, i was looking through my old journals and found the name Quitterie, my favourite teacher and mentors name from when I was in high school. I REALLY love the name, but i’m not sure others would be able to pronounce or stand it. (Key-tree or kit-ter-ee are the pronunciations. I prefer the latter)

Another name that I found while scrolling around on this site was the name [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f]. I also really like this name, and so does my husband. Its his top pick as he’s part french.

I don’t really know what to do. I love all 4 names but I feel like they are all too different, different styles to be middle names for each other.

It would be really appreciated if anyone could leave some input, suggestions and advise for me, God knows I need it.

It it helps, if the baby is a boy, he will be called [name_m]Sebastien[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Aleksandr[/name_m]. If she’s a girl her middle names will be [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] or one of the other names i’ve stated above.

Thanks so much in advance for the help!!

I think [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] is lovely and has the best flow to my ears.

I prefer [name_f]Alethea[/name_f]!
[name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Damara[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] & [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] & [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Leopoldine[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] sound lovely

I prefer [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] out of the four.

[name_f]Alethea[/name_f] Quitterie [name_f]Georgine[/name_f]

[name_m]Sebastien[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Aleksandr[/name_m] is lovely!

I read Quitterie as kit-ter-ee. I think that has a cute, youthful sound. I’d be tempted to shorten it to [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]. I’m not fond of how it looks and feel it doesn’t have the elegance of your other choices.

I think [name_f]Alethea[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], and [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] are all beautiful choices. I personally love [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] above the others and think it matches best with the middle names you’re considering. [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] is gorgeous! [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] would be my second choice.

My favourite is [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], my second favourite would be [name_f]Alethea[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] is okay, but doesn’t have the same appeal as [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. I read Quitterie as kwi-ter-ee, which isn’t very pretty imo.

I think [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] Quitterie is quite pretty, or [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Damara[/name_f].

[name_f]Alethea[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] are my favorites! [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] is beautiful! I think Quitterie would endure a lifetime of mispronunciation for sure unfortunately.

I love [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]! I think it has a gorgeous medieval fairytale feel to it. I’m not a fan of Quitterie; I read it as kit-er-ee and it seems a little obscure and young compare to your prettier options like [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f]. My favorite is [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], my second would be [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f].

[name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] Quitterie [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f]

My favorite combinations from your four frontrunners and your two main middle names are:

[name_f]Althea[/name_f] [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (I do think this spelling lightens up “[name_f]Alethea[/name_f]” and works better within this longer name combo)
[name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] Quitterie [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] (maybe [name_f]Kiki[/name_f], the first sounds of her two MNs, could be a family nickname!)

I love the idea of using your mentor’s name, but did not find the pronunciation intuitive (I read it as Quit-er-ee, like a made-up adjective for someone giving up on a project or leaving a job) and imagine explaining/correcting that all the time would get annoying! If you don’t think that would get to you, go on and use it as a FN! Otherwise, I like it better as a middle name.

Congratulations on your little one!

I love [name_f]Alethea[/name_f]! [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is gorgeous!

[name_f]Georgienne[/name_f]! I’ve never heard of this variant before, but it’s absolutely beautiful. The nickname options are endless ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f], [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], [name_f]Enna[/name_f]…) and are all so full of spunk! And [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] has such a sophisticated edge to it…so pretty! I also think it looks so nice next to hypothetical brother [name_m]Sebastien[/name_m]. [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] Knesia [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] would make a beautiful combo.

My second choice would be [name_f]Alethea[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Isolde[/name_f].

[name_f]Leopoldine[/name_f] is a big favourite of mine though I’m not brave enough to use it, every time I mention it people recoil in horror, may I ask where you’re from?

I prefer [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] from your list. The other names are a bit too out there for my taste.

I’m going to echo many others - Quiterrie doesn’t seem to fit in the category of your other names - it’s challenging to pronounce and it just isn’t as “pretty”, but you could use it as a middle if you really want to honor your mentor. I personally love [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] the most (I have a [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and a [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] so it’s more my style). I also really love [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] though, so those two are a tie for first choice for me. They are just beautiful names that will carry from baby through old lady.

I really like the pronunciation of Quitterie but it has the word Quit in it, which seems to throw everyone off. What about the spelling Kiterey or Kittirie? I love the nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

[name_f]Alethea[/name_f] is gorgeous but I prefer [name_f]Althea[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Thea[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f]. It sounds like a mash-up of those two names that just seems off to me.

[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] looks cool but all I see is “is old.”

[name_f]Alethea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] is also my favorite combo.

So it seems like your list is [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Leopoldine[/name_f], [name_f]Alethea[/name_f], [name_f]Violanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Damara[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], Quitterie, or [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f]? These are all gorgeous names. I would strike [name_f]Violanthe[/name_f] as it’s phonetically very similar to “violence.” [name_f]Leopoldine[/name_f] is a bit too much of a mouthful for me.

You will probably run into pronunciation issues with [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] ([name_u]Evan[/name_u]-THEE? [name_u]Evan[/name_u]-th? Isol-[name_u]DAY[/name_u]? I-[name_m]SOL[/name_m]-da?). For me, that might not be a deal-breaker, but it’s certainly something for you and your husband to consider. Quitterie will also probably be frequently mispronounced QUIT-er-ee (that was how I would have said it). I rarely champion alternative spellings, but Kitterie might be an easier sell. I do really like this name aloud, though.

That leaves [name_f]Alethea[/name_f], [name_f]Damara[/name_f], and [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f]. You can’t go wrong with any of these. My pick would be either [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] or [name_f]Damara[/name_f], since these two names bridges the gap between what I see as your two dominant styles ([name_m]French[/name_m] names and classical romantic names). Either would work well with [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m].

[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] is my favourite by far! Beautiful, dramatic/romantic without being overkill, and very elegant.

I know that Quitterie is considered very chic in [name_f]France[/name_f] right now but I just find it odd to the English eye. If you live in an anglophone country, I wouldn’t use it as a first: “KWIT-er-ee” is not a very attractive pronunciation and that’s what I think you’d get predominantly.

[name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] is amazing! I vote [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] Quitterie or [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] Quitterie [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] - I enjoy the repeated sounds

I really like [name_f]Alethea[/name_f]. It’s elegant, uncommon and has a beautiful meaning. I also like [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], but be prepared for a few mispronunciations if you live in an English-speaking country. Quitterie is lovely in a [name_m]French[/name_m] accent but doesn’t translate well into English. [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] doesn’t appeal to me for some reason.

I love [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] I think [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] works very nicely in the middle with it. Maybe try and find a one syllable name like you have for your boy pick. [name_f]Georgienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], is pretty. (I’m not good with 2 middles so other berries will have to help you there.)
