I voted for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. Second choice would be [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f]. I’m just not a fan of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], and it feels very trendy with [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], and [name_f]Veronica[/name_f].
Damn, such a hard poll! All combos are lovely. I like how you pair the classic [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with the unusual, beautiful, regal [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] (and I have [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] on my list for the exact same reason as you do, lol -[name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] fan and a Ravenclaw here :D). [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is nice and I adore [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] as well (love its celestial quality). And [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is my favourite of all three first names. I really like [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] as well, but to be honest I still like your original [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] slightly more than [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f]. In the end I voted for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], because I am biased that way, but truly I think it’s a tie between [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. Sorry for not helping.
Penelope Cosima is beautiful! William, Catherine, Veronica, and Penelope work quite well together.
Elizabeth Rowena would be my second choice. I love its special meanigns for you. The Little Women tie to your name is especially adorable. (And, hey, I am a Ravenclaw, too! )
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] is stunning, and gets my vote!
Okay, you probably don’t want any more suggestions, but what about [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]? [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f] is a place in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] so you get to nod to your husband’s roots AND still feels like a link to [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and Ravenclaw.
(I love [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f] too but you have such elegant taste I am not messing with your combinations.)
And I voted [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] but [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a close second - very close. I thought you would have mentioned it before, if it was a contender.
[name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m] or [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] & [name_m]Liam[/name_m] -I am not so sold on [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] although [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be fine. I was sad for the [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] situation but now these new names are exciting me. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] I think we have been through with short names [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], etc. I am liking all these and again you will choose well I am sure if you choose [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is my favourite, followed by [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f]. I also love the nn [name_f]Beth[/name_f] with [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_f]Cate[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f]!
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] gets my vote! I just adore [name_f]Beth[/name_f] as a nn.
I remember [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] and [name_f]Cate[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] but I must have been away from nameberry for [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], congratulations, you always create beautiful, elegant names and combinations.
I voted [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] both for the nn [name_f]Beth[/name_f] with her brother and sister’s nicknames and for the full name. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is also one of the most versatile names there is so little [name_f]Beth[/name_f] will always have plenty of options.
I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to the moon and back, the combo really works with the sibset and the nn [name_f]Rose[/name_f] also fits right in, so that also perfect.
My only hesitation is [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f], and only because you will have to be persuading OH.
You can’t go wrong really.
My favorite is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. I adore the gorgeous, versatile [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
Very hard to choose as all names are beautiful and seem to be meaningful to you both. I particularly am in love with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] and I think the ‘ph’ thing is a lovely subtle connection to her sisters’ names. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a classic and I don’t think will ever go old and the -alie ending makes even more cheerful and jovial a name. I love the connection to your family tree through the beautiful [name_f]Rozalia[/name_f].
Would you consider maybe [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] in the end? I love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f], but I think that you and your husband seem to love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] quite a bit more.
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] might be my all time favorite name. I had always planned to use it for a daughter, although I was going to start with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], but couldn’t get my husband to agree, sadly.
@mega_muffin, congrats on expecting!! What great choices! Chalk full of meaning for you all; you can’t go wrong! I really love [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as a sister for your kids. I think it is unique but beautifully simple.
Thanks to all who have voted and commented so far!
@oftenoverseas - I love [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f]! Unfortunately, my husband is not that wild about it. He definitely prefers [name_f]Rowena[/name_f].
@thomasina - We have considered [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] before, but I think a four-syllable, nine letter first name is too much paired with [name_f]Theophania[/name_f], and I don’t like the bumping "th"s.
I only just came across this thread! I love your final choices- I’ve said in your other threads how beautiful and magical [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] are. As a huge book nerd, I really love the connections behind [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], and how your mother also got your nn from [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f] is lovely too, she feels like a sweet and intelligent but quiet girl. It doesn’t quite have the spark of the other two combos for me though.
It’s a really, really tough choice for me between [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], but I would go with [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are all timeless classic names that have never really gone out of style and have always been fairly popular, while [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] isn’t and would stand out. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] are both classic in that they have a lot of history and have been used for a long time, but their popularity has ebbed and flowed, unlike the others. I also like [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as a nickname (would really love to see [name_f]Polly[/name_f] though!) more than [name_f]Beth[/name_f], which I’ve never been particularly fond of.
My favorite option is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] – obviously I’m partial to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! I also like the meanings behind the names for you.
bonefireazalea has a good point, though…since you also have a [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], if you don’t wan’t something quite as classic as [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_m]William[/name_m] (which would definitely be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]), then my choice would be [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Theophania[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a beautiful name!
I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is a cute nickname that goes well with your sibset, but I have to admit that [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is just not my favorite. I’d get to [name_f]Nell[/name_f] by using [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
Thanks, @bonfireazalea and @sbw!
We have finally come to a decision. If this baby is a girl, her name will be…[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]! I have to admit, part of me was perhaps a little more “wowed” by the other two combos, but when it came right down to it, my husband and I both just loved [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (and all her many lovely nicknames) the best as a first name.
Congrats on finding the one! [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Beth[/name_f]’ [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is perfect!
Congratulations on deciding! Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy.
