Down to the wire and still confused

It’s go time and I still feel conflicted on the name. I have two boys named Mi.les and As.her. After a few miscarriages, baby girl is going to arrive soon and here is my list.

Arabella
Isla
Sienna
Ansley
Phoebe
Sophie

My number one is Isla or Arabella. Ansley is the name I’ve always loved, but after the long journey that name just doesn’t feel right either.

Middle name will be Grace because of it’s meaning. Rose is my other option. I am open to other ideas, but I don’t like choppy names.

What name do you think goes best? Originally, I wanted a different first initial, so that it flows better, but I’m not dead set on it.

I also like Aurora, however, it’s difficult to say and Rory is hard for me as well. I love the look, but the sound just feels off when I say it.

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] or Sophie! They fit well with the cozy, classic vibe of Mi.les and As.her.

[name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] if it’s your favorite! I do like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but Mi.les and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] share that long ‘i’ sound.

[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] Grace!

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] is gorgeous.

Congratulations!
I think-
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
It is so sweet and works well with the boy names!

Isla, Arabella and Phoebe are all fabulous choices as well, though IMO Miles and Isla are a bit close in sound for my liking. The first name that came to mind not on your list is Risa. Risa Grace would be beautiful, but I don’t know if you would consider it choppy.

Risa
  • (Czech) Rich & powerful ruler
  • (Latin, Spanish, Italian, English) Laughter
  • (Latin) smile; laughing; star of the sea
  • (Sanskrit) daughter of the sun
  • (Old Greek) sea nymph; rainbow
  • (Japanese) sand of the village; Gossamer of the Village
  • (Greek) sea fairy

isla grace is lovely and m.iles, a.sher & isla make a brilliant sibset

I think [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] go best, but since your top picks are [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], I would just keep those two on the list.

[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] or [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] have my vote! [name_f]Isla[/name_f] sounds too close to [name_u]Miles[/name_u] IMO.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Pheobe[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

Mi.les
Ash.er
and
Pheo.be

Arabella!

Arabella- if this really is your top name don’t let the repeating initials put you off. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and Ash.er sound totally different, and if it’s only 2 out of 3 it’s not a big deal. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] sounds best to me, [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is also nice. If you like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] has some of the same qualities and feel to me. If you want to have nick name options [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is a great choice, but if you want to avoid nickname this name might be frustrating.

Isla- goes well with your boy’s names, since they would all be 2 sylable names. [name_u]Miles[/name_u] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] run together a bit in my mind, but tha’ts not a deal breaker. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] work, my favorite it [name_f]Isla[/name_f] Rose. This name is a bit on the trendier side, but it’s a beautiful name so that makes sense.

Your top to options are great, so don’t force yourself to pick on of the other names if it’s not really what you want!

Sienna- for some reason to me this name sounds choppy said together with Mi.les and Ashe.er, theres to many s sounds. Otherwise it’s a loveley name

Ansley- I’m more familiar with the [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] spelling, so this version seems off to me, It also sounds like you’re hesistant on it, so don’t go for it. Maybe this new daughter is a fresh start and this long loved name isn’t right for this moment.

Phoebe- feels like it goes the best with your other children’s names. [name_f]Pheobe[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] sounds really nice

Sophie- this name is great but it’s a little too popular in my opinion. I goes great with your boys names.

Overall my vote is [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

Ara.bella, Mile.s, and Ash.er sound like a fantastic group of siblings to me

Congratulations! If [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] are your top names (which are lovely by the way), I would shorten your list to these two as per @Quentin99’s comments. Choose what YOU love the most and I think it is either one of these names. I hope this helps narrow it down for you. Personally, I would lean to [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] but you can’t go wrong with either.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] goes best to me

I really love Isla. I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful! And I [name_f]Isla[/name_f] works well with your boys names,

If you’re top 2 are [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] at this point I would drop the others (I’m not good at doing this, so I feel a little hypocritical suggesting it, but if they really are the ones you love, that’s what I would focus on)

Congratulations! I’m sorry to hear about your previous losses

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is my favourite for you — it’s got the same cool-traditional, sleek and simple, not overused feel that your other children’s names have. It’s beautiful and with a wonderful meaning too!

I agree that [name_f]Isla[/name_f], while lovely, is quite similar in sound to M.iles. [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] are pretty and would work well.

Anstey is a cool name and, although it feels rather different in style — more modern and androgynous — I can see it working alongside your boys’ names, for a smart, tailored trio.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is also very pretty and, while it’s a little on the frilly side for me personally, I think it would be a lovely choice and again, a nice meaning for a baby born after loss.

Three more suggestions for you:

  1. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] — means “rainbow” and shares a lot of sounds with [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but just a bit further from M.iles

  2. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] — a more unusual alternative to [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] which really fits your cool, simple, underused classic vibe

  3. [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] — means “miracle”, similar to [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], would also make a lovely meaningful middle: [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]

Best of luck!

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] meaning ‘prayerful’ feels incredibly appropriate. I also love the name.

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - uh-roar-uh is gorgeous to me and the meaning ‘dawn’ like the breakthrough of light and hope after a long struggle would be beautiful too.

I also love the suggestion of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] meaning rainbow.

Other suggestions:
Beatrice/Beatrix - bringer of happiness
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - longed for child
[name_f]Cariad[/name_f] - love
[name_f]Kalila[/name_f] - dearly loved
[name_f]Kerensa[/name_f] - love
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] - love

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is gorgeous as is [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f]

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is my favorite of these; it does repeat Asher’s initial, but she’s so lovely! [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are perfect, too. I also like [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] to [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], and am getting a bit tired of Isla–I hear it quite a lot here. I like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] better with your boys than [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and while I like [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] Grace/Rose, I prefer [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] to her, too. I think [name_u]Miles[/name_u], [name_u]Asher[/name_u], and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is so sweet.

Good luck!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! Many congratulations on the soon arrival of baby girl!
I love your sons’ names. Both are very handsome. These are a few thoughts about your list for baby girl:
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] are not my personal style. They give me Disney princess vibes and seem a bit over the top.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f], while very lovely, is incredibly popular. As a mom myself, I hear it all.the.time.
Phoebe-I hate to say this, but I just can’t take this name seriously. It’s very cutesy.
Ansley-very lovely. Was on our list as well. [name_f]My[/name_f] only hesitation is same initial as brother.
Sophie-absolutely my favorite! I never tire of hearing this lovely & chic name. I feel [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] fits in perfectly with brothers’ names.

Other suggestions that come to mind: I’ve always loved [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a sister to [name_u]Asher[/name_u] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] a sister to Miles. Both of these names mean light. We named our youngest daughter a name that also means light as she came to us after years of loss and grief. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s name & meaning brought me a peace knowing that light was now shining through after our most grief filled days.
