We’re at the final stretch and still not any closer to narrowing things down. I’d love your thoughts on our list please!

I’m looking for a recognisable name that isn’t overly popular. All these are outside the top 100 names (UK).

August - Wondering if it’s odd to call a baby born in January, August?

Edmund

Emmett - Something is stopping us from saying a definite yes or no to using these last two.

I’d love to use an unusual middle name. To get an idea of our style, we’ve played around with these while making combinations; Apollo, Beck, Birch, Bowie, Cove, Cloud, Fox, Ever, Winter, Oak, Pine, Poet, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Elwood, Finch, Grey, Echo, Everest, Atlas, Caspian, Bear, Wolf, Indigo, Hawthorne, Moon, Atticus, Jagger, Thistle, Fable, Forrest, Thorne, Sterling, etc.

[name_m]Darius[/name_m], [name_m]Julius[/name_m], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] are boy names that you typically don’t hear everyday but they sound great in my opinion.

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] and [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] are great - very different vibes but both are nice!

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is regal, strong, and literary, but also, with a gentle, fun feel. [name_m]Lawrie[/name_m] is cute, as is [name_u]Ren[/name_u]. [name_m]Lance[/name_m] is cool too. I prefer [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] in the UK, mostly because of [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] [name_u]Fox[/name_u] :person_shrugging:

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is sharp, sleek and cool, but friendly, lively and fresh.

[name_u]August[/name_u] is warm, cosy and lovely, and I really love the sound. I don’t think it’s odd to use [name_u]August[/name_u] in [name_u]Jan[/name_u].

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] - gentle, charming and lovely.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - cute, unexpected and sparky

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] - I find it very clunky and not too appealing, sorry.

I think what it comes down to is whether you want something classic and strong with nickname potential or something more modern and snappy. [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] feel like the former, [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and maybe [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] fit in the second. [name_u]August[/name_u] sort of bridges the gap- though [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] could too.

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u]: I like the fun/lively vibe from this name. It would be a great choice!

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]: I love [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. It’s different and fun!

[name_u]August[/name_u]: I love August!! I wouldn’t be weird at all to use it on a [name_u]Jan[/name_u] baby. [name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_m]Auggie[/name_m] are super cute nicknames!

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]: I’m personally not a fan. It just doesn’t seem right to me. I think it feels kind of like it doesn’t flow well.

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]: I love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]! Very [name_m]Charming[/name_m]. It’s a name that’s heard of but not very common.

I think [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Lawerence[/name_m] have the same vibe (vintage, long, nickname options if you want them)

The [name_u]Fox[/name_u] connection really does worry me with [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]! Hopefully [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] combats that.

I think that’s the issue with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] for us too. It’s a wonderful name and we love it but it feels a bit adult compared to the rest of our list. I can see [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] on any age but not much [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. I do find [name_u]Eddie[/name_u] as nickname very cute though.
