Down to Three Names....need some advice!

We’re expecting a baby girl in 5 weeks (+/-)…she’s our first too! I want to give her strong, yet feminine name as she will be the oldest of our children. Her middle name will be [name]MARIEN[/name], as it was my maternal GM’s name who passed away unexpectantly 8 hrs. after we found out we were having a girl. Last name is GROOT (not an easy one to work with…i know)

So, here are the top three so far:

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Marien[/name] Groot

[name]Whitney[/name] [name]Marien[/name] Groot

[name]Isla[/name] [name]Marien[/name] Groot

What do you think?? Any other suggestions are welcome

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of [name]Whitney[/name] (feels very 90’s to me for some reason). I think [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] are both great names though. I would probably go with [name]Isla[/name], as I don’t think it feels as trendy as [name]Avery[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Isla[/name], although it seems to be rising in popularity. [name]Whitney[/name] would be next for me.

My personal favourite of those is [name]Isla[/name], but I do think [name]Isla[/name] Groot has a funny flow to it. I think [name]Avery[/name] sounds more like a sister to either [name]Whitney[/name] or [name]Isla[/name] than [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Whitney[/name] do to each other, so I’d probably go with [name]Avery[/name], but [name]Whitney[/name]'s nice too.

[name]Isla[/name] [name]Marien[/name] is beautiful I hope that you choose this combo.

Definitely [name]Isla[/name] [name]Marien[/name]! It’s lovely. [name]Whitney[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] are both surnames; [name]Avery[/name] is getting extremely trendy and [name]Whitney[/name] is already dated. But I love [name]Isla[/name].

I think that [name]Avery[/name] flows best with Groot, but [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Whitney[/name] aren’t my style, so I’ll go with [name]Isla[/name] [name]Marien[/name].

Good luck!

I’m not a fan of [name]Avery[/name], so that one’s out for me. The other two flow nicely. [name]Whitney[/name] sounds sweeter, but [name]Isla[/name] has an exotic feel to it. If it were my choice, I’d go with [name]Isla[/name].

My favourite is [name]Isla[/name], but I like [name]Avery[/name] too and I think it goes best with your surname.

I don’t like the sound of [name]Isla[/name] with your last name. [name]Avery[/name] sounds great though!

I love [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Isla[/name] [name]Marien[/name]. It’s gorgeous, it’s cute, it’s sophisticated. Wonderful.
Congratulations and good luck

Mine is another vote for [name]Isla[/name]! It is definitely the strongest of the three names!

[name]Avery[/name] is my favorite

Why not use [name]Marien[/name] as the first name [name]Marien[/name] Groot sounds great and any of the suggested first names sound good in the middle?

I’m not a fan of [name]Avery[/name], although it is growing on me, [name]Whitney[/name] is great but not quite my cup of tea either. [name]Isla[/name] is my favourite on your list, gorgeous and classy but I fear it not sounding too good with you surname… Still [name]Isla[/name] [name]Marien[/name] is lovely so it gets my vote:)

Good [name]Luck[/name]!

I think you’re going to have popularity issues (if this bothers you) with both [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] - [name]Avery[/name]'s already popular and [name]Isla[/name] is moving fast. [name]Both[/name] I think go well with [name]Marien[/name] (lovely name!) but I think [name]Avery[/name] goes better with your surname. I do like [name]Whitney[/name], but I agree it may be a bit 90s. So I’d vote for [name]Avery[/name] [name]Marien[/name].

I think you said you were still open to ideas. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Waverly[/name] [name]Marien[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Marien[/name]
[name]Calla[/name] [name]Marien[/name]
[name]Ellery[/name] [name]Marien[/name]

Good luck!

[name]Isla[/name] [name]Marien[/name] Groot is beautiful, my favorite.

Heres a few other suggestions
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Marien[/name]
[name]Nora[/name] [name]Marien[/name]
[name]Edith[/name]/[name]Edie[/name] [name]Marien[/name]
[name]Freya[/name] [name]Marien[/name]
Good luck:)

I agree completely with lamps. If you’re open to other ideas, I think you should explore more options that are at least three syllables and end with a y or an a, which do more to soften your last name. Some good ideas have been offered – I particularly like [name]Waverly[/name] and [name]Ellery[/name] – and I have one to add: [name]How[/name] about [name]Marietta[/name]?

[name]Isla[/name] is beautiful!

You mentioned you were looking for strong, yet feminine names… [name]How[/name] about these?

[name]Alannah[/name] ([name]Gael[/name]. “[name]Rock[/name]”/[name]German[/name] “One who is precious”) [name]Marien[/name] Groot

[name]Carolina[/name] (Latin: “A joyous song; a small, strong woman”) [name]Marien[/name] Groot

[name]Darcie[/name] (Irish:“Dark”; French:“fortress”; some books have the meaning down as “a dark beauty”. In any case, I think the sight and sound of ‘[name]Darcie[/name] [name]Marien[/name] Groot’ is favourable.

[name]Erika[/name] (Scandinavian: “[name]Ever[/name] the ruler”) [name]Marien[/name] Groot

[name]Helena[/name] (Greek: “the shining light”) [name]Marien[/name] Groot

I think your last name makes it tough to veer off onto the trendy names path. I feel traditional, yet current names are your best bet at softening the effect your last name has on your baby’s entire name. What do you think?

I like [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] the best (in that order). Good luck picking!
