I’m due with our first child (a boy!) in mid [name_u]August[/name_u], and it’s been a bit of a trial to decide on a name for our little guy! We’ve narrowed it down to two, although we still feel open to other options? Our last name is Grossman, and the middle name will definitely be [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] (my late father-in-law’s middle name), so we’re down to either [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] or [name_m]Adam[/name_m] for potential first names.
At this point, I think we both like the idea of [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] the best, but we’re not sure how well it flows with our last name, and it seems easier to think about actually calling him [name_m]Adam[/name_m] than [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] for some reason? Maybe because we’ve both known more [name_m]Adams[/name_m] than Lucases? I think the only other “maybe” is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] ([name_m]Ben[/name_m]), but neither of us are really sold on it. Other potentials that wound up being tossed were [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] ([name_u]Alex[/name_u]), [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] (DH doesn’t like it), [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] (MN [name_u]Jay[/name_u], another honor name), and others I don’t even remember.
Anyway… thoughts? Does [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] Grossman sound ok?
I like both [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]. I probably have a slight preference for [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] as a first name, but I think your [name_m]Adam[/name_m] combo flows better because of the prominent S sounds in [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and Grossman. But [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] Grossman still works fine!
Could you go for the “wait to meet him” approach, now that you’ve managed to whittle it down to a top 2? I’m a planner so I like to have the name settled before the baby arrives too, but if you have two choices you love then you can’t really go wrong. You never know, his name might just “click” when you meet him for the first time!
To me [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] Grossman seems like a slight mouthful because of all the s’s but it isn’t too bad and I know a lovely little boy named [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] so I love this name!
[name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] Grossman reminds me of [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Adams[/name_m] beer but it may not be a big deal if he doesn’t use his mn much.
I think [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] Grossman sounds great! Looks great on paper too. I would also like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] Grossman. Congrats!
I definitely prefer [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] to [name_m]Adam[/name_m]. I’m not sure what it is, but [name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] sounds rather disjointed to me.
Both are beautiful names and go well with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and your surname. Why not wait until you meet your little one and see if he looks more like a [name_m]Adam[/name_m] or a
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]?
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] Grossman has too many s’s for my taste. Plus, I adore the name [name_m]Adam[/name_m] - it’s so handsome. [name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] has a much better ring to it.
I like [name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] Grossman. [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is my husband’s name and very handsome! I prefer [name_m]Adam[/name_m] Grossman to [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] Grossman because the latter has too many S’s for my taste like the previous poster said.
Thanks, everyone! I do like the name [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] more than I like the name [name_m]Adam[/name_m], but the concerns about all the S sounds is definitely there for me, and I totally understand why the combination of [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]/[name_m]Luke[/name_m] and their teasing nicknames (Mucous/Puke) might not be ideal with our last name. I think it’s a big reason why we haven’t been able to settle on it, because we feel kinda torn. The idea of waiting until he’s born, and seeing what feels right is an option, of course… and honestly, that’s likely what will happen, as much as I’d love to get it settled now.
