i think i would go with pilar, but theyre both nice
Bumping for more votes!
Gracias!
I like [name]Magdalena[/name] the best, but I think [name]Ines[/name] [name]Pilar[/name] sounds better with your last name. They are both really nice though so you can’t really go wrong!
Oh man, I had been rooting for [name]Pilar[/name] against your other options (which were also lovely, but I just so love [name]Pilar[/name]), but [name]Magdalena[/name] is so incredibly gorgeous. I like the 2-4-3 rhythm better than 2-2-3, and I think M is one of those letters where alliteration can work particularly well (a la [name]Marilyn[/name] [name]Monroe[/name]). [name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name] M0ren0 is gorgeous. I will still be very happy if you pick [name]Pilar[/name] but am voting [name]Magdalena[/name].
Thanks for the feedback!
Jesba, I’ve noticed that the people who like [name]Pilar[/name] REALLY like [name]Pilar[/name]! I’m glad to hear that you think the M alliteration isn’t a problem in this case. We decided against Eloísa and [name]Bel[/name]én because even though I love those names they are too soft to go with already quite soft sounding Inés. [name]Pilar[/name] and [name]Magdalena[/name] just seem to have more umph to them, which I think Inés needs. I liked [name]Paloma[/name] a lot, but DH decided he didn’t like such a straight-forwardly noun name. ([name]Pilar[/name] is also a noun, but it’s old and not really used as such anymore, so he’s okay with that.)
I can’t believe how much time I’m spending just thinking about middle names here. If DH were willing, I’d even consider two middles in this case - Inés [name]Magdalena[/name] [name]Pilar[/name], but DH already thinks middle names are kind of useless, so he won’t be on board with two. Plus, it would be weird since my other two kids only have one middle.
I’d love to hear more reasons behind why you all are voting [name]Pilar[/name] or [name]Magdalena[/name].
[name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name] flows so well. I like [name]Pilar[/name] as well, but it just doesn’t flow with [name]Ines[/name] the way [name]Magdalena[/name] does. I wouldn’t worry too much about the alliteration of the middle and last names since [name]Magdalena[/name] has so many syllables. It spreads the Ms out enough that it doesn’t bother me at all. If you’re really in love with [name]Pilar[/name] I would go with [name]Pilar[/name] [name]Ines[/name]. I just think it has a better flow.
[name]Love[/name] the middle name [name]Pilar[/name]. I have always liked that name.
I prefer [name]Magdalena[/name] to [name]Pilar[/name] but I think that [name]Ines[/name] [name]Pilar[/name] has the better flow.
I love [name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name]! I wouldn’t be bothered by the IMM initials, and [name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name] is so gorgeous that I wouldn’t even consider that as a negative factor at all, haha. I also really like [name]Ines[/name] [name]Paloma[/name], [name]Ines[/name] [name]Eloisa[/name], and [name]Ines[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] from your rejects, although I think you have a real winner in [name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name]!
Good luck!
[name]Pilar[/name] is so refreshing. It has a long, dignified history in Spanish naming. It sounds lovely with your surname and first name (I think [name]Ines[/name] [name]Pilar[/name] flows well, perhaps better than [name]Magdalena[/name]). And while [name]Magdalena[/name] is very beautiful, the surplus of modern Madelines makes [name]Pilar[/name] really stand out.
While I prefer Inés [name]Magdalena[/name] as a combo, I think Inés [name]Pilar[/name] flows better with your surname. [name]Both[/name] are lovely choices so you can’t go wrong with either one.
Thank you for the feedback!! I’ll be sure to let you know which one we pick.
I thought I would reply here, too, after posting about your boy decision.
I would pick Inés [name]Magdalena[/name]. I really like [name]Pilar[/name] too, but my husband (native Spanish speaker) shot it down for being too religious. I had thought I might be able to get him to use it as a middle name and I liked [name]Ana[/name] [name]Pilar[/name] for a girl (I thought I would often call her by both names), but when I say it several times fast it starts to sound odd to me and the same thing happens with Inés [name]Pilar[/name], something about how it runs together. Madgalena is beautiful and strong, and I actually like the repetition of the M with your surname - I think it sounds quite sophisticated.
I voted for [name]Ines[/name] [name]Pilar[/name]. I love the way [name]Pilar[/name] rolls off the tongue, and it seems more succinct than [name]Magdalena[/name].
I voted [name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name] and I think it should be a choice between [name]Ines[/name] and [name]Pilar[/name] as first [name]Christian[/name] names.
I voted for [name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name]. I think the “MM” alliteration is pretty. I think both of your choices are lovely, but I have a preference for longer, beautifully feminine middle names.
I love [name]Pilar[/name] for a first, too, but we don’t want to choose a first name with an “r” in it since I’m not a native Spanish speaker. I want to be able to pronounce at least the first names of our kids perfectly in both languages. I’m just not quite there on the “r” sounds!
[name]Ines[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name] Moreno sounds best! [name]Magdalena[/name] is lovely and it flows best with [name]Ines[/name].
Yes that is a conundrum isn’t it? I have no idea of Spanish pronunciation so I am no good with advice there.
All the best,
rollo
