Down To Two Names

my brother and his wife are down to two names if there baby is a boy:

[name_m]Simeon[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] VS [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] (nn Zeph)

[name_m]Nelson[/name_m] is a family name so it is set.
WDYT between these two?

You have two fine Biblical names as your choices. I think [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] is my preference. I also like Zephan as a nn. While I like [name_m]Simeon[/name_m], it’s too similar to the word “simian” or ape-like.

Another vote for [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m]! It’s unique and gorgeous, and the Z automatically gives it the “cool” factor.

[name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] sounds more rad on its own, plus it doesn’t slur with [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] like [name_m]Simeon[/name_m] does. I’d be stoked to meet a little Zeph.

Another vote for [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m]! [name_m]Simeon[/name_m] is a cool name, but there’s the “simian” thing and also that the matching N-endings and the slurring N ending-and-beginning of [name_m]Simeon[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] are not ideal.

Best wishes to your brother and sister-in-law!

I prefer [name_m]Simeon[/name_m], but I like the flow of [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m] more. Plus, Zeph is so cool! I think [name_m]Simeon[/name_m] still gets my vote, though–I just love it too much!

[name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m] is wonderful!!!

The good news is that I don’t think you can go wrong with either…

However I would anticipate Simean causing lots of problems due to it’s similarities to apes and also [name_m]Simon[/name_m]; your poor son might have to correct lots of people on his name spelling.

Zeph is such a nice nickname, it reminds me of Zephr. It sounds very 50s and fabulous and I like that it has a formal name and cute nickname.
