No, I do not know what [name]Sybil[/name]'s kid is named. But I can hardly wait to find out :slight_smile: Predictions, anyone?

I feel like it will be Irish (they are living in [name]Dublin[/name]), but not unpronouncable in English. [name]Branson[/name]'s first name is [name]Thomas[/name], after all. And they still have connections over in [name]England[/name] who canā€™t be going, ā€œ[name]Siobhan[/name]? [name]Sybil[/name], darling, why did you name your child something with the word ā€˜banā€™ in it?ā€ (although it would be a nice nod to [name]Siobhan[/name] Finneran :D)
Iā€™m predicting something like [name]Eileen[/name], [name]Kathleen[/name], or [name]Colleen[/name] for girls, and [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Finnigan[/name], or [name]Devin[/name] for boys.

I also thought up a couple names for [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Matthew[/name]:
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Roberta[/name] (I noticed [name]Mary[/name] was a [name]Mary[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], and I thought perhaps she was named for a male relative [name]Joseph[/name]. So [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] get their namesake)
[name]Regina[/name] [name]Isobel[/name] (after [name]Matthew[/name]'s parents)
Plus if they have a boy (please do, Iā€™m sick of heir drama), they will probably fit [name]William[/name] in. [name]Matthew[/name] does owe his life to [name]William[/name], after all.

What do you predict? On that note, if you happen to be a [name]Brit[/name] berry and know some sort of spoiler, [name]DO[/name] NOT TELL ME! Living in [name]America[/name] means I wonā€™t see s3 until [name]January[/name] :frowning: I also kind of like to savor the anticipation :slight_smile:

I totally agree with you on your points about [name]Sybil[/name] and [name]Branson[/name]'s baby, and would really love it if [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Matthew[/name] had a boy/named it [name]William[/name].

Hmm, if I were the author Iā€™d probably have them use a name from some historical figure they would likely admireā€¦Maybe [name]Florence[/name], after [name]Florence[/name] Nightingale? Or [name]Maud[/name], after the Irish revolutionary and feminist [name]Maud[/name] Gonne? If they have a boy though I bet they give it a pretty boring family name along the lines of [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Robert[/name], [name]Patrick[/name], etc. Weā€™ll see! Oh but [name]January[/name] is sooo far away!

sigh I miss Downton [name]Abbey[/name]! Iā€™m so ready for it to start again! My favorite names on the series are [name]Cora[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], and [name]Beryl[/name].

Ahh yes. I am an English berry- the series just started over here and all Iā€™ll tell you is that the first ep. is brilliant :slight_smile: Iā€™m mega excited for the [name]Branson[/name] baby, [name]Anna[/name]/[name]Bates[/name], [name]Mary[/name]/[name]Matthew[/name], amazing [name]Violet[/name] witticisms andā€¦ just [name]Tom[/name] [name]Branson[/name] and all his cuteness :smiley:

M/M: Girls- there is a trend of feminisation for MNs ([name]Sybil[/name]'s MN is apparently [name]Patricia[/name], ([name]Patrick[/name] Crawley!) coincidentally the same FN/MN combo as Professor Trelawney in HP. Bit of trivia for you there :wink: ) so I second the suggestion of [name]Roberta[/name]! Itā€™s a safe bet [name]Cora[/name] & [name]Isobel[/name] could be used (and [name]Violet[/name]?), maybe [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Alice[/name] etc- other names popular at the time.
Boys- [name]LOVE[/name] [name]William[/name] for a little Crawley boy! Perhaps [name]James[/name], [name]Isidore[/name] ([name]Cora[/name]'s father), [name]Reginald[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Henry[/name] too?

S/T: Girls: I agree. [name]Violet[/name] would have a thing or two to say about unpronounceable Irish names. I like the suggestions of [name]Kathleen[/name] and [name]Eileen[/name], maybe also [name]Susan[/name], [name]Annie[/name], Bridgid, [name]Molly[/name], [name]Nora[/name].
Boys- Iā€™m thinking [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Alastair[/name], [name]Jonathan[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Michael[/name], [name]David[/name] at the moment. Not strictly Irish but have an Irish feel to them.

So far I love all the other charactersā€™ names. Thumbs up for [name]Julian[/name] Fellowes for not naming all of them [name]John[/name] & [name]Mary[/name]. But I think we might be done with [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Richard[/name] and [name]Thomas[/name] as those names have been used at least twice already, to my knowledge :slight_smile:
