DS will be here any day!

We chose the name [name]Miles[/name] [name]Everett[/name] as soon as we found out we were expecting a boy. I am 100% committed to [name]Miles[/name]. [name]Even[/name] prior to conceiving, I spent months trying to convince DH to share my love of [name]Everett[/name] and I finally succeeded. I have continued to search for a better option, but I believe that I have ruled out every other possible name. I don’t even know what my concerns are with [name]Everett[/name], except I have learned that others either absolutely love it or hate it. The only other name that has been a true contender to [name]Everett[/name] is [name]Adam[/name], and that is because it is DH’s middle name that has been used in several generations. [name]Miles[/name] [name]Adam[/name] isn’t bad, but our last name is two syllables and ends in -son, so [name]Everett[/name] has a much better flow. I have been caught between using a name that means something to me or a name that has a better flow. I highly doubt that I will be able to sway DH from [name]Miles[/name] [name]Everett[/name] at this point, unless it was for [name]Miles[/name] [name]Adam[/name] (he still prefers [name]Everett[/name]), but I suppose I just need confirmation that this is a good name choice! It’s very important to me that his name flows well, but I’m a little concerned that in the future, I may regret using a name just for that purpose over one that means something to me.

Thank you, Berries!

Definitely choose the name with meaning! Flow shouldn’t be a deal breaker for a name with family significance, especially when it’s in the middle spot. I think the importance of “flow” is close to zero and completely overblown around here. I would much rather meet parents who’ve given their children choppy, meaningful names than beautifully flowing, meaningless names.

Thank you, southern.maple! I have also been told, “You’ll know the right name for him when you see him.” But I’m a little bit of an excessive planner. I always have felt like deep down when it’s time to name him, I will go for [name]Miles[/name] [name]Adam[/name]. My husband is [name]Ryan[/name] [name]Adam[/name], so not much difference in flow/syllables, and I don’t think it sounds bad.
