Sorry, guys, it’s me again! So I’ve searched for months & months for a name for our baby girl & don’t really like anything! DH & I would like to use “[name]Kate[/name]” as a middle name to honor my [name]MIL[/name], whose middle name is “[name]Kay[/name]” ([name]MIL[/name] hates her middle name, but loves [name]Kate[/name] & so do we).
3 yr old daughter “[name]Ella[/name]” LOVES [name]Emma[/name] & has called this baby that for months. She actually tells everyone that is what we are naming her. DH & I actually love it & despite popularity, I only know one in my area. My problem is that I have a hard time seeing “[name]Emma[/name]” on a 30 year old, although I love it for a little girl.
DH & I also like [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Kate[/name], nn [name]Allie[/name] or [name]Lexie[/name]. ([name]Ella[/name] is actually “[name]Gabriella[/name],” so both girls would have longer names with nn and be named after their grandmas). However, our last name is [name]Thompson[/name] (so common!) and just yesterday I read about an “[name]Ali[/name] [name]Thompson[/name]” in our local paper (she’s in high school) and then saw PGA tour’s youngest golfer “[name]Lexi[/name] [name]Thompson[/name]” on TV. Ahhh! Would this keep you from using a name??
Thoughts or suggestions? “________” [name]Kate[/name] [name]Thompson[/name].
I tend to like more modern, popular names. “Classic/Vintage” are nmsaa. ([name]Emma[/name] seems girly to me, rather than classic. I love girly! ) Any & all suggestions are welcome!!
I like the name [name]Emma[/name] but not with [name]Ella[/name] (this is the name she goes by most of the time instead of [name]Gabriella[/name]). I like [name]Alexandra[/name] with [name]Gabriella[/name]. [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Alexandra[/name] are pretty classic so I’m not sure I’ll be on the right track with with my suggestions.
What about [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Emily[/name], Emilija, [name]Emiliana[/name] as a first name, and [name]Emma[/name] for a nn? That way she has a full name to fall back on as an adult if she doesn’t want to go by [name]Emma[/name] (which sounds great on a child or a 30-year-old, [name]IMO[/name].)
[name]Ali[/name] is often a nn for [name]Allison[/name], [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Alina[/name], [name]Alyssa[/name], [name]Aliyah[/name], [name]Alicia[/name] etc, and [name]Lexi[/name] is a rather common first name on its own. It could also be a nn for [name]Alexis[/name]. I wouldn’t let the fact that others may have a similar name stop me from using it if I loved it. [name]Alexandra[/name] is beautiful, and it has such a special meaning to you, why wouldn’t you use it?
If not, then I love [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Felicia[/name], [name]Miranda[/name], and [name]Zoe[/name] from pp’s suggestions.
I love [name]Emma[/name]. I know plenty of grown women with this name so I think it works fine for a child or adults. Think of actress [name]Emma[/name] [name]Thompson[/name]. I like the previous posters suggestion of [name]Emilia[/name].
More suggestions-
[name]Aubrey[/name] - [name]Bree[/name]
[name]Lianna[/name] - [name]Lia[/name], [name]Annie[/name]
[name]Cecelia[/name]- Cece
Thank you all for your replies & awesome suggestions!
you are on the right track! I guess I just meant names like [name]Hazel[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name] are not my style… although perfectly fine for others! I really like [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Julia[/name] & [name]Eliana[/name] (although to me, [name]Ellie[/name] is too close to [name]Ella[/name]). I also like lily, but have a friend with dd that name. Thanks for your help!
I also like [name]Nicollette[/name] & [name]Aubrey[/name]. We have talked about [name]Emmaline[/name], but I don’t love it, although I love [name]Emma[/name]. We would be using it just so she could have a longer name. I love [name]Alexandra[/name], but don’t adore lexie or [name]Allie[/name]. If only I could name her [name]Alexandra[/name] and call her [name]Emma[/name]. Haha!!
Thank you all again! You’ve given me a great start!
[name]Emma[/name] [name]Kate[/name] nn [name]Emmy[/name].
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Kate[/name] would be nice too.
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] nn [name]Mila[/name], [name]Millie[/name], [name]Amy[/name].
Some others that could be combined with [name]Gabriella[/name]:
[name]Fiona[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
I know a little girl named [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
