Due in 10 days and hubby and I can't agree! HELP!

So, we are due in 10 days and have yet to agree on a name. We are both picky. I tend to love romantic names while I think my husband has to associate the name with a person he either knows or knows of (i.e. celebrity.) Ugh. I’m also a teacher so many names have been ruined for me.
Here is what we have:

Hubby’s choice is: [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]

I had always liked this name but hate the popularity. Plus, I have had so many students with this name!

My choice: [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Elliana[/name_f]

It is a variant of [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] which is the name of my dearest aunt who passed away three months ago. It also means “God has answered” and we struggled 5 years to conceive. Plus, it’s the only name that makes my heart jump. Hubby, however, seems to think it’s too ethnic for our last name which is pretty WASP-y.

Other names we both like but not love:
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u]

Middle names we are considering:
[name_u]Rene[/name_u] (after my sister’s middle name)
[name_f]Antonette[/name_f] or [name_f]Antonietta[/name_f] (after my grandmother)

Can anyone help with a combination of these names or suggest new ones that might work? I’m so worried that we won’t have a name by the time she gets here! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Loooooove [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u]. my cousin named her daughter [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] and I think it’s beautiful. We call her [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] too.
I don’t think [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] is ‘ethnic’ sounding at all…but maybe that’s because I picture it on my Blonde blue-eyed little cousin.

I don’t think [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is too ethnic nor would I associate this name with a certain ethnicity.

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u] or [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Antonette[/name_f]/ [name_f]Antonietta[/name_f] would be lovely as a combo.

I would not associate [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] with a certain ethnicity. Hmmm… how about the following which are other forms of [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]?

[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Elaina[/name_f]
[name_f]Eline[/name_f]

PLEASE go with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]! Absolutely gorgeous and clearly the perfect choice for you given the significance of the name and its meaning.

Hubby needs to snap out of it!! Would he rather have a kid that’s one of 8 different Sophias in her class? Ugh. It’s the NUMBER [name_f]ONE[/name_f] most-used name in the country for goodness’ sake!

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Antonette[/name_f] is utter brilliance. But whatever middle you choose, please get husband on board with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]! (If I were you, I’d be pulling the, “I’m the one carrying and birthing this child, MY opinion counts more!” card… but that’s just me. )

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is lovely. (Perhaps suggesting some nicknames for this might win your husband over, like he could call her [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f], etc)

I like [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u] quite a lot!

Some other ideas to consider:

[name_f]Elena[/name_f]/[name_f]Elaina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]

I really love [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]? [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] sounds really lovely too.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] came back on, and mariemama has some great ideas, love her suggestions of [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].

Honestly, I am not crazy about [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is pretty, but oh so popular. I just don’t care for [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f].

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u] ( this is my fave…I dont think it sounds too “ethnic” at all! Its beautiful)
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u] [name_f]Antonette[/name_f]

as far as the [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] issue goes…

You could Spell it [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]? not as common…or some similar names…
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
Sophira [name_u]Brooke[/name_u](nn can still me sophie/sophia)
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] [name_f]Antonette[/name_f]
[name_f]Sonya[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
Zeili [name_u]Rene[/name_u] (prn ZAY-[name_u]LEE[/name_u])

Here are some names that I think suit your guys style…

[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Rue[/name_u]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Antonette[/name_f]
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Rene[/name_u]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to throw in that where I live [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is very associated with one ethnicity, so I don’t think your husband’s concerns are completely invalid.

[name_f]Elena[/name_f]! So pretty. I prefer it to [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]/[name_f]Elliana[/name_f] simply because I dislike ana endings. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is just as “ethnic sounding” as [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. I love the suggestions of [name_f]Helen[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f] as well.

My vote is for [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] & your husband can call her [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] if he chooses to.

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is a beautiful name. You have to choose the name that makes your heart jump – you won’t be happy with anything else.

Eliana is Hebrew, and in America Hebrew names are the most popular names. That’s not exactly exotic, though Hebrew is ethnic.

Its still not a very good reason not to like a name, especially one that isn’t too unique or too out there. Eliana is literally a combination of Ellie and Anna.

That being said I think Eliana is adorable (I like Eliana better than Ellianna [if you feel like you need the second L I suggest Elliana]), and I quite like the nickname Ellie, as well as the fact that it would be to honor a loved one (the meaning is another plus!) And if this is the name that your heart jumps to, you probably won’t be happy with anything else.

As for the middle I think Antonette/Antoniette (or however you spelled it) its too similar to the ending of Eliana (-ana An-). I think since Eliana is a variation of your loved one’s name, I think you should go with a variation of Antonette as well. Maybe something that ends with -ette?

Other names that are similar to Eliana:
Eleanor
Elisa
Elina
Elicia
Elana
Elaina
