due in 2 weeks... no names! help!

[name]Hi[/name], hoping for some advice for baby 2… don’t know the sex.
Our son is [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Everett[/name], and our last name is one syllable with a ‘th’ sound in it. This leads me to exclude names i love, like [name]Theo[/name], it just sounds… lispy to me. We also prefer 3 or 2 syllable names.
If it is a girl, I might like to use a name starting with E for first or middle.
Otherwise, we are open, and flailing. We tend to like british/old man and old lady names, or what we think of as such. Here are some of our contenders - please suggest combinations or others!!

simon (my choice, dh doesn’t like)
arlo (is/will this be to trendy??)
dexter (hate that everyone is obsessed with the show!)
oscar (i don’t love…)
hugo (dh loves… i’m not sure!!? convince me?)
henry (too popular? not sold on this)

pheobe (my first choice, he won’t consider)
mabel (when i mention this, most people make a face!)
molly (dh loves, but some people call our son ollie, and it’s just too twee together)
iris (i love, he doesn’t… along with eve, ivy, maeve… etc etc… i think i like V sound, and dh vetos a lot!)

so… help??

[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Iris[/name]! [name]Dexter[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] are both in my top 3.

I love [name]Simon[/name] [name]Henry[/name]/[name]Simon[/name] [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] (although [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Oscar[/name] might be a bit matchy… but I just adore [name]Oscar[/name]! Maybe [name]Simon[/name] [name]Oscar[/name]?) for boys, and [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Iris[/name] for a girl. I met the cutest little [name]Molly[/name] today–maybe you could use it as a MN? [name]Iris[/name] [name]Molly[/name] would be cute.

alistair, clive, graham, dominic, edwin, milton, ellis, felix
briony, celeste, nicola, rosemary, elena, gwendolyn, frances, lydia

o I love your lists, many of which are on my own list…
my favs…

[name]Arlo[/name] would be my fav for me too, but I already have 2 ‘A’ names, and dont want any more… [name]Iris[/name] is my fav girls, so elegant and pretty.

so… help??[/QUOTE]

simon - It’s ok. NMS.
arlo - [name]Love[/name] it! I don’t think it’s trendy personally.
dexter - [name]Don[/name]'t really like it.
oscar - [name]Kinda[/name] like it but I feel it might be too matchy with [name]Oliver[/name].
hugo - Ehhh I don’t like it.
henry - It’s grown on me a lot. I think it’s gaining popularity.

pheobe - Like it.
lucy - [name]LOVE[/name] it!
mabel - It’s ok. A lot of “old lady” names are making a comeback, why can’t this?
molly - I love it but I agree that [name]Molly[/name] and [name]Olly[/name] might be a bit much.
iris - NMS

Here are some others you might like:

If you don’t love [name]Hugo[/name], how about [name]Hugh[/name] or Huwie (alternative spelling [name]Huey[/name])

My favorites from your list are [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Simon[/name]!

Some other suggestions:

[name]Emelyn[/name] (perhaps [name]Molly[/name] as a nickname?)

So helpful. We are narrowing down… And so many suggestions were on our lists.
Top contenders seem to be

Mns [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Anna[/name]? Not as sure but less concerned.
Can’t forget [name]Hugo[/name] dexter or hazel, but less sure.
Basically we seem to be torn between out there names ( arlo [name]Mabel[/name]) and safer names ( [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Simon[/name]).

Go [name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name]!!! - and i think your middle names are lovely …
