I’m due in 2 weeks with my third girl and we’re still somewhat stuck on a name. We have daughters [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], but I don’t care a ton about sibset continuity or anything, as long as we love the name.
Our short list has been [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] the last couple months. We like them all the same amount though, so we’ve had trouble vetoing any of them.
Now the last week or so, we’ve really been liking the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. But since we only have a couple weeks to really feel this name out, we have no idea if the name is a fleeting trend for us or if it has the longevity needed to name our child [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
Advice please! Should we go with something we’ve liked for a while, or should we jump on board with this shiny, new name? And if we go with one of the first three, how do we narrow it down to just one when we like them all the same amount?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a middle name in mind? If so which name goes best with it?
Out of the four names you like which one can you see yourself still loving in 10 years?
I think that [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] would go great. I’m not too fond of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] (which are gorgeous names btw).
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] is one of my favourite names so I definitely vote for that, especially if your not worried about Sibset continuity. Also I agree it may help to know your preferred middle name (if you have one) and which do you feel goes best with your surname?
Also in terms of picking a name that is a new crush over a longer term love, as you are short of time maybe refer to your bump as [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (as much as possible) if it is a fleeting crush you will soon get fed up if hearing/speaking it! And there is no harm going in with a shortlist of 4 names and waiting to meet your bundle of joy so you can see what suits her best!
The middle name will be [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] if we pick [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. If we go with [name_f]Stella[/name_f] or [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] as the first name, the middle name is very up in the air.
All of the names go well with our last name, which is why they’ve made it this far in the process It starts with an S, so [name_f]Stella[/name_f] would be an alliteration name, which I think is cute, but not necessarily a reason to pick the name.
I agree with lulu82 on calling her [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] for now to see how you like it. They are all beautiful choices! Maybe even call her by each name for a full day to see which one sounds most natural or fitting. I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] with [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]! I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] also goes nicely with those names, which I prefer over [name_f]Elinor[/name_f].
I love cactusgram’s suggestion of [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], I also think [name_u]Clare[/name_u] could be a good pairing with both [name_f]Stella[/name_f] & [name_f]Elinor[/name_f].
Overall my vote is [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]!! I look forward to hearing what you end up deciding on!
I love all your choices and there’s no rule you have to know BEFORE the birth. My daughter was [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] for two days but it never felt right - and we ended up with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], which just seemed to fit her. Have a few solid choices and see how you feel when you meet her!! Congrats xx
