Due in 3 weeks - need your help!

We are due with our first baby in [name_u]August[/name_u] - terrified and excited at the same time!

Would love your honest opinions on the name [name_f]Azaria[/name_f] for a girl.

My husband and I have absolutely loved this name for a number of years but have recently been put off by people’s reactions.

We know it’s an unusual choice and particularly in Australia it’s somewhat problematic. But we love the lyric sound of it and that it can be shortened to Az or [name_f]Zara[/name_f] or [name_f]Aria[/name_f] or Zari.

We have some back up names but keep circling back to this one.

Please help!!! [name_f]TIA[/name_f] xx

I think it’s pretty! Better than a lot of names people are giving their babies these days. It does sound ethnic to me though (don’t know if that matters to you). I think if both of you have loved the name for that long then it’s the one. When I say the name the first nickname I would say is Zari. (I am pronouncing it uh-ZAR-ee-uh)

[name_f]Azaria[/name_f] is gorgeous! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn Zari too! I say …Go for it!

[name_f]Azaria[/name_f] is nice.

[name_f]Azaria[/name_f] is great! If both of you feel like it’s “the one” then I say go for it - it’s not difficult to pronounce or spell when it’s heard, even though it’s uncommon. Also, I can’t imagine that there are too many spelling variations so living with the name wouldn’t be tedious. Plus it sounds almost floral to me (probably because of Azaleas) which is sort of trendy right now, so it wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb in a group.

In my opinion, it’s great!

Gorgeous! And I love the nicknames; [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], Zari :).

My immediate association is [name_m]Hank[/name_m] [name_f]Azaria[/name_f], the famous American character actor, so all I can see is his face when I think of it and I wouldn’t call him a conventionally attractive man, but if you are in Australia it probably doesn’t matter as much as if you were in the US.

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] for sure!!”

Thank you for your thoughts and kind words everyone! You’ve definitely given us some encouragement

Any additional opinions are very welcome xx

I thought of [name_m]Hank[/name_m] [name_f]Azaria[/name_f] too, and I’m not even sure I have ever watched a film starring him. It also reminds me of [name_f]Azalea[/name_f].

I’m Australian, so my first thought was of [name_f]Azaria[/name_f] Chamberline - but, it’s a lovely name. I say go for it!

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t let the opinion of others sway your decision. If you and your husband both love this name and keep circling back, it is a good sign this is the one. It is a very pretty name and I love all the unique nn you can use with it.

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t regret not using the name you love because of reactions. This is your choice and not the choice of others!
