Due in 8 weeks and cannot decide

We are having a baby girl in 8 weeks and cannot decide on a name. We have 2 boys with Irish names, but don’t really like a lot of the traditional Irish Girl names. We have a list but don’t really love anything on it, but like it all well enough… We will use [name]Elizabeth[/name] as the middle name for his side of the family

[name]Katelyn[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Emma[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

Popularity of a name doesn’t bother us, don’t care for wacky spellings or Gaelic spellings because even though there are some beautiful names we don’t want our daughter having to correct people from spelling it wrong or having a hard time pronouncing it. So Saiorse and Aiofe are type Gaelic names aren’t what we are looking for. Also must fit with her brothers names, [name]Aidan[/name] & [name]Liam[/name].

[name]Ava[/name] is my all time favourite name, so a big vote for [name]Ava[/name].

[name]Caitlin[/name] would be pretty spelt like this, the proper Irish way. It would go well with [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Liam[/name].

[name]Ava[/name], [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] are also really pretty. [name]Even[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] is nice, but I don’t like [name]Delaney[/name] (too masculine, too last name-y) or [name]Emma[/name] too much, or [name]Katelyn[/name] spelt like this, ughh.

[name]Caitlin[/name]!

A girlfriend of mine named her twin daughters [name]Aria[/name] and [name]Aili[/name] (Eye-[name]Lee[/name]) and I think [name]Aili[/name] is so beautiful!

[name]Quinn[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] are really sweet, but I like [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a first name.

Help me out! Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums

I vote [name]Delaney[/name]

you could try one of those Irish names like [name]Keara[/name] [name]Kera[/name] that are not to complex.

I [name]Love[/name] [name]Delaney[/name] - and laney is a very cute nn! - good luck!

if you dont care for popularity [name]Ava[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] are both beautiful, very popular, names. I like [name]Lila[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]; I also think it goes well with your boys.

Congrats-

[name]Aiden[/name], [name]Liam[/name], and …[name]Caitlin[/name]!

Like [name]Susan[/name] said, [name]Quinn[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] sounds very much like [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] to me… Because you don’t like invented spellings, I thought I’d mention that [name]Katelyn[/name] is one of many trendy spelling of [name]Caitlin[/name] (I’ve also seen [name]Kaitlynn[/name], [name]Katelynn[/name], [name]Caitlyn[/name], [name]Caitlinn[/name], [name]Kaitlyn[/name], etc.) so I’d personally go with one of your other names.

Some more names I can see with [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name]:

[name]Bridget[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Bronwen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Brynn[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (not the best flow because of the back-to-back vowels–[name]Fiona[/name]'s A and [name]Elizabeth[/name]'s E, but I still think it’s pretty)
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] ([name]Love[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]!)
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (still gives you [name]Quinn[/name], but sounds less like [name]Queen[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name])
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Tamsin[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

Good luck!

What about [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Kira[/name] which is the name i am probably going with.

I like [name]Quinn[/name]. [name]Caitlin[/name] goes well with your sons’ names

Thanks for the suggestions, especially the spelling for [name]Caitlin[/name], I didn’t realize there were so many. We’ve decided against [name]Delaney[/name], my husband really liked it but I had some hang ups because my former boss’ last name was [name]Delaney[/name], nice guy but it would be strange for me to name my daughter that. Told him we could compromise with just [name]Laney[/name] but he feels like that is too much of a nickname and she needs a full name. I’ve made a new list. [name]Elizabeth[/name] will still be the middle name

[name]Ave[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Neve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
Ainsely [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Laney[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (haven’t totally given up on it)
[name]Caitlin[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Esme[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (nn [name]Vivi[/name] - husband doesn’t love it)
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] ( nn [name]Vivi[/name] as well)
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

Thoughts?

[quote=“overwhelmed”]

[name]Ave[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Not really a fan.
[name]Neve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I think [name]Neve[/name] is really cute.
Ainsely [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I prefer the [name]Ainsley[/name] or even [name]Ainslie[/name] spellings, but regardless, I’m not a fan.
[name]Laney[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (haven’t totally given up on it) - Insubstantial.
[name]Caitlin[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Despite [name]Caitlin[/name]'s popularity it is a pretty, classic Irish name and I think it goes really well with [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Liam[/name].
[name]Kate[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I like this but feel it’s insubstantial next to [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Liam[/name]. [name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name] nn. [name]Kate[/name] maybe?
[name]Esme[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Very pretty but I don’t like it with [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Liam[/name].
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Pretty.
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Not a fan of [name]Isla[/name].
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Cute! But I don’t like [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Ada[/name], too matchy.
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Pretty but too long with [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Liam[/name].
[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (nn [name]Vivi[/name] - husband doesn’t love it) - Not a huge fan of [name]Vivienne[/name] myself.
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] ( nn [name]Vivi[/name] as well) - I like [name]Genevieve[/name] but I’m not convinced. Seems too long together.
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Cute, but don’t like [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] together.

My favourite is [name]Caitlin[/name]! I think it goes really nicely with [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Aidan[/name] as it matches the Irish origins and is simple and classic like them too. I think this would be a lovely sibling set

[name]Laney[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (haven’t totally given up on it): I think it has a cute sound, but I’m not sure that [name]Laney[/name] will age well. You may also like: [name]Lane[/name] (nn [name]Laney[/name]).

[name]Caitlin[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I far prefer [name]Caitlin[/name] to the other spellings, but I imagine that with so many yooneek spellings in the mix, [name]Caitlin[/name] will still have her name misspelled all time. Here’s what [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] wrote about the name (I think this was under the [name]Kaitlyn[/name] spelling):

"A huge name over the past few decades, this variation has just started dropping down the charts while others – the original [name]Caitlin[/name] and [name]Kaitlin[/name], for instance – have been moving down for some time. No matter how you spell it, way overused and no longer even vaguely stylish. "

(I do think [name]Caitlin[/name] is a pretty name, but thought I’d paste the above for you, just so you’d know how very popular the name–and its spellings–are.)

I think that [name]Kate[/name] is a great alternative!

[name]Kate[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I [name]LOVE[/name] it!

[name]Esme[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I love this, too…

[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I think it’s great!

[name]Isla[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I love [name]Isla[/name], but this doesn’t flow as well to me as some of the others, because of the a in [name]Isla[/name] and E in [name]Elizabeth[/name].

[name]Ada[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: See [name]Isla[/name]. (I have to pause between an -a ending name and [name]Elizabeth[/name] when I say the combo out loud, but that may just be.) Plus, [name]Ada[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name] are too close to me.

[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I think it’s pretty, but I think some of the shorter first names flow better with [name]Elizabeth[/name].

[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (nn [name]Vivi[/name] - husband doesn’t love it): I think it’s pretty…

[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] ( nn [name]Vivi[/name] as well): I love [name]Genevieve[/name], but I think some of the others flow better with [name]Elizabeth[/name].

[name]Lila[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: See [name]Ada[/name]…

I love so many of your names, but my favorites are: [name]Kate[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], and [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. ([name]Genevieve[/name] is my overall favorite name on your list, but I think the others work better with [name]Elizabeth[/name].)

Good luck!

My name is [name]Caitlin[/name]. I’m twenty-nine. I feel like my name belongs almost exclusively to young girls under the age of ten. It’s so extremely popular in all of it’s myriad spellings. I don’t want to discourage you from using this name just because it’s popular, but I thought I’d also point out how many spin-offs of it [names that sound just like it] there are in the charts:

Kayla #28
Kaylee #31
Kylie #51
Kayleigh #239
Kiley #307
Kailey #308
Kyleigh # 316
Kaylie #319
Kaylin #377
Kayden # 391

These names started rising in popularity as the name market became oversaturated with Caitlins/Katelyns/Kaitlyns much the same way that McKenna, McKayla, Kinley, and Kenzie rose in popularity after McKenzie hit it big. What I’m saying is that not only will your child be one of many Caitlins [at least you’re going with the correct spelling of it!] on the playground but there will be several girls in her class that have names that sound very, very similar to hers. [name]Imagine[/name] your child raising her hand in class and the teacher stutters, “Yes, [name]Kayleigh[/name]-- er, [name]Kaelyn[/name]-- I mean [name]Caitlin[/name]!”. When I was in college my job involved working with young girls and this is exactly what my day was like. On top of that I had to put up with mothers exclaiming, “Oh, wow, your name is [name]Caitlin[/name] too?!”, while smiling down upon their own dear [name]Katelyn[/name] as if it was a miraculous coincidence. I became sooooo sick of my name. I don’t even correct people when they spell it wrong. I just don’t care anymore.

So anyway, popularity is one thing, but [name]Caitlin[/name] and all of its rip offs are on a whole different level. I hope you can find something less… used and recycled.
