[name_f]My[/name_f] little boy is due on [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] [name_f]Day[/name_f] and I’m starting to really narrow down my list of names for him. Most of these are simply loved names, with [name_m]Johan[/name_m] being the sole honor name (variant of [name_m]John[/name_m], his grandpa’s MN). I’m not normally into using honor names but my dad is a special case . Last name is one-syllable and starts with “T.”

I feel like it could easily mature with you as you age (not always the case with a more unique name). I like the flow of [name_m]Thorin[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] better, but the combination of the wild/naturey [name_m]Thorin[/name_m] with the poetic/classic [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] draws me in as well. I’m pretty split on this one.
3. [name_m]Can[/name_m] I have a 4 way tie? I just can’t choose! They’re all great. @Taylor_Anne Unrelated to the names but I’m curious if you celebrate your son’s birthday any differently if he ended up close to [name_f]Christmas[/name_f]. Something I’m conscious of is that I don’t want it to seem like my son’s day gets overshadowed by the holidays.

His birthday is 12/20!
So far he’s only had one birthday we went to an indoor play place and did a small Bundt cake with just him, me and his dad.
We had talked about other ideas for when he is older and we thought about decorating the [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] tree as a birthday tree (we celebrate Christmas) but also not decorating it with [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] stuff until it’s like dec 23rd or something so we don’t have to take down all the ornaments and reput them on ; or we thought about getting a second fake, small tree for him and just decorating that — as well as his room
Some other ideas are let him pick what he wants for dinner, take him shopping, movie night, renting an indoor place like ice skating, gymnastics, laser tag, going out to an arcade or even taking a small family trip to somewhere warmer

I know some other people will celebrate in [name_f]June[/name_f] for a “half birthday” type of event just because it is nicer weather and more options and not hovering over [name_f]Christmas[/name_f].

I also expressed to friends and family his birthday and [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] are two different ideas to celebrate. No birthday presents wrapped in [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] paper or combining gifts they wouldn’t do for other family members i.e. if it’s a bigger gift that’s fine, but basically like treat his birthday the same as another family member whose birthday would be in [name_f]April[/name_f]
(We also said no gifts are fine too, we wouldn’t be upset about it) but just acknowledging his birthday and him separate from a major holiday

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] ~ he’s definitely having a moment in the sun he’s handsome, has a soft outdoorsy flair and feels very current. I also like the nickname [name_m]Arty[/name_m]. [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m] is a handsome middle name providing a whimsy flair to the sibling set. [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] feels soft, romantic and has a pride & prejudice flair to the overall combination. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m]!

[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] [name_m]Johan[/name_m] ~ I love the idea of [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] for a [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] baby! [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] is whimsical, sparkly and has this majestic flair. He has the [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] story behind the name along with the meaning ‘keeper of the treasure’ and I also think [name_m]Johan[/name_m] sounds handsome in the middle name slot.

[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] ~ he’s such a gorgeous name with a fun, rugged and outdoorsy flair. [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] has this really cheerful flair and I like the nickname [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. From the middle names [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] has a fun sound but I like the romance of [name_m]Wilder[/name_m].

[name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] [name_m]Johan[/name_m] ~ [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] is a lovely name that feels romantic, distinguished and has the lovely nickname [name_m]Finn[/name_m]. However with the two names ending in ‘n’ for me doesn’t have the best flow.

[name_m]Foster[/name_m] [name_m]Johan[/name_m] ~ I do see the appeal of [name_m]Foster[/name_m] however personally this just isn’t my favourite name as I just think of the brand of cider.

[name_m]Iver[/name_m] ~ I think [name_m]Iver[/name_m] is handsome name with a distinguished European flair I think he’s very handsome. Looking at the middles I like both but I think [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] has the better overall sound.

[name_m]Lorcan[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] ~ I do see the appeal of [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m] but he isn’t my favourite option I’m just not overly keen on the sound of the name. However [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] does sound handsome in the middle name slot.

[name_m]Oskar[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] ~ I love [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] he’s so handsome with a distinguished yet playful sound. I also like the [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] nickname. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is a lovely middle name for [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] such a handsome pairing.

[name_m]Thorin[/name_m] ~ this name feels bold, daring and majestic especially with the cool meaning thunder from the middle name options [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is just so enchanting and definitely my favourite.

No, I love hearing all these ideas. Someone I work with suggested the half-birthday in [name_f]June[/name_f] as well, but you’ve got some good ideas for [name_f]December[/name_f] too. Really like the idea of a “birthday tree” if there’s a couple days separating his birthday from [name_f]Christmas[/name_f].

One thing I’ve been thinking about is making a new [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] tradition. We typically will have the big meal and open one gift per person on [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] day, stockings are exclusively from [name_f]Santa[/name_f]. Maybe we could decorate a gingerbread house for him and it’s decorated to fit the sort of things he’s into that year, like superheroes or animals or whatever.
