due in less than 4 wks and can't decide!

DH and I cannot agree on a name for our baby girl that will be here very soon. We have narrowed it down to 2 real contenders:
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Kate[/name] or
[name]Saylor[/name] [name]Kate[/name]

Help! [name]Kate[/name] is not a def middle name, we also like [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Rose[/name]. Last name sounds like [name]Ashley[/name]

I love these names. I mentioned [name]Saylor[/name] to my husband, but he doesn’t like it. I love [name]Lila[/name] too, but I would probably name her [name]Delilah[/name], and then just call her lilah. As for the middle names, I love
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or
[name]Saylor[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

Have you thought of [name]Sawyer[/name]? I love it and it’s close to [name]Saylor[/name].

[name]Lila[/name] [name]Kate[/name]: I think that [name]Lila[/name] is a beautiful, elegant name. I love [name]Kate[/name], too, but think a longer middle name, like [name]Katherine[/name], would create a better flow with your last name. [name]Lila[/name] definitely gets my vote!

[name]Saylor[/name] [name]Kate[/name]: I prefer [name]Sailor[/name] spelled this way (I’m not a fan of yooneek spellings, and think that [name]Saylor[/name] looks very trendy), but because [name]Sailor[/name] and [name]Kate[/name] both have the same long A sound, I think a different middle would work better. While it’s not my style, I think that [name]Sailor[/name] is a sweet name.

[name]Lila[/name] and [name]Sailor[/name] are polar opposites in terms of style, so when choosing between them, you may want to consider names you’d like to use on siblings (provided you’d like the styles of their names to match). [name]Do[/name] you generally prefer modern names ([name]Sailor[/name]) or more of a classic/vintage style ([name]Lila[/name])?

Whichever you choose, I wish you the best!

Good luck!

[name]Hi[/name] there,

I agree that [name]Sailor[/name] would be a better spelling choice. I think both your name ideas are lovely, though. Best wishes for your decision. Ooh, how about [name]Sailor[/name] [name]Kate[/name]? Or does that sound like a sailor who is named [name]Kate[/name]? You also might want to consider the cartoon [name]Sailor[/name] [name]Moon[/name]. Kids might think of that at school. I do like the name [name]Sailor[/name] better, though, because it is more original.

I love [name]Lila[/name] but [name]Saylor[/name] (especially spelled with a y) seems very trendy to me. Since [name]Lila[/name] is such a short, sweet name, I think it would be prettier paired with a longer name like:

[name]Lila[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name] (or any other type of [name]Rose[/name])
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Gracelyn[/name]

I too prefer [name]Lila[/name] though you should be aware that names with a double L – [name]Lily[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Layla[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], [name]Talullah[/name] etc – are very trendy…though [name]Saylor[/name] is certainly trendy too. If you have a two syllable first name and last name, I’d recommend a middle name that DOESN’T have two syllables, so I actually prefer [name]Kate[/name] to [name]Katherine[/name] and would add that [name]Kate[/name] is more distinctive than [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Rose[/name], which have become what [name]Lee[/name] and [name]Lynn[/name] and [name]Ann[/name] used to be – placeholder middle names.

Spot on [name]Pam[/name]!

Am I the only one who pronounces [name]Katherine[/name] with three syllables? I’ve always pronounced it Kath-eh-rinn (and [name]Katharine[/name] as Kath-a-rinn), with the middle syllable being very subtle.

I’m really curious about this!

[name]Edit[/name]: I went to an etymology site and saw that it can be pronounced with either three syllables or two.

I’ve always pronounced it Kath-rin.

You could always go into the hospital with the names and choose the one that you think fits her the most. I like them both. They both have they’re own styles, but [name]Saylor[/name] is way more unique and you’re bound to almost never run into another [name]Saylor[/name].

I love [name]Lila[/name] [name]Kate[/name]; it’s actually on my short list!

What about [name]Lily[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Kate[/name]?!?

Good luck^^

I love [name]Lila[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. I think that [name]Kate[/name] is an adorable middle name. I also like [name]Lila[/name] [name]Grace[/name].

I love the name [name]Saylor[/name]!! [name]Saylor[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is a great name! My husband isn’t a huge fan of the name, but his taste in names is not the best. =) I am expecting my fourth boy, so using the name has never been a real issue.
Anyway, of your two names I really prefer [name]Saylor[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. [name]Lila[/name] has always sounded old-ladyish to me. If she doesn’t like the name [name]Saylor[/name] when she gets older, there’s always [name]Kate[/name] to fall back on.
Good [name]Luck[/name] and Congratulations!

I’m naming my daughter [name]Saylor[/name] [name]Kate[/name]! [name]Love[/name] it.
