Hello, Berries! I’m due next month and still haven’t come to a conclusion on a name! big sister is [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. we love our top 5 but aren’t sure what sounds best with her name??
These are our FOR SURE top 5. We will be using one of these names, I just want input on which flows the best with sister’s name. (btw- [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] goes by Lisse pen [name_f]Leese[/name_f])
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] / [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] nn [name_f]Anna[/name_f]
I am totally loving [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] or [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are unusual enough but definitely pretty, like [name_f]Lisette[/name_f], and would go nicely.
I would personally rule out [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and [name_f]Maelys[/name_f] since they share the “Lis” part of [name_f]Lisette[/name_f]. I know they SOUND different than [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] but they are still all similar and share similar diminutives, including [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], actually (although this name sounds very different so I wouldn’t kick this one off the list). I would want my second daughter to have a totally different name - like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] are so gorgeous and chic; I am totally in love! And each child has their own, fully individual name.
I feel like I should mention [name_f]Annaleigh[/name_f]/[name_f]Annalie[/name_f]. I am totally not a fan. I know it’s not “made up,” but it feels that way and doesn’t hold a candle next to the sophisticated [name_f]Lisette[/name_f]. You seem to like the idea of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as a nickname, but neither choice really feels like the right one, in my opinion. I know you said you were using one of these 5 and like I said, my pick is definitely [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], but my preferred “[name_f]Anna[/name_f]” name is definitely [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].
In looking back at your post and seeing your nickname for [name_f]Lisette[/name_f], I may’ve been wrong when I said it sounds different than how it sounds in [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and [name_f]Maelys[/name_f] - maybe it doesn’t? I was thinking it was Liss-et, but is it Lees-et? Either way, if the nickname is “[name_f]Leese[/name_f],” then that makes my case even stronger for me.
I really like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. It is different enough than Lisse’s name, but still has the same charm and appeal, making them a great sibset!
I agree about [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] being too similar to [name_f]Lisette[/name_f]. I have no clue how to pronounce [name_f]Maelys[/name_f]. [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] feels too common next to [name_f]Lisette[/name_f]. [name_f]Annalie[/name_f] is pretty, but sounds a bit made up - which is fine it’s just NMS (despite the fact that it is totally my style, but sounds too made up for me).
So [name_f]FIONA[/name_f] is my first choice. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is stunning, sweet and your daughter will be anything she wants. I can see [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] being sporty, brainy, outdoorsy, a total girly girl, an animal lover, really anything she wants. The name will grow well with her, and she will most likely love her name!
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] sounds best (gorgeous!). Also consider [name_f]Finola[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u].
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Annalie[/name_f]. (pronounced [name_f]Ahna[/name_f]-lee) I would totally use this for our daughter but unfortunately it’s the name of a family friend on my husband’s side and we aren’t close enough to her to name the baby after her.
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is so beautiful!
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] - while I love this, I wouldn’t use it. I think one could end up with Lisse and the other [name_f]Liese[/name_f]/[name_f]Lise[/name_f]/[name_f]Elise[/name_f]/[name_f]Eliese[/name_f], and that would just be confusing. I think [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] would be so lovely together!
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - very pretty, and I think [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] are lovely, but for some reason I just can’t get behind it. It is a lovely name, though.
[name_f]Maelys[/name_f] - another lovely name, but I agree with the pp–I would avoid it for the same reason as [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. It’s just a bit [name_f]Lise[/name_f] heavy.
[name_f]Analeigh[/name_f]/[name_f]Annalie[/name_f] - pretty, and I knew a girl named [name_f]Annalee[/name_f] in high school who wore it well, but I can’t help but like other [name_f]Anna[/name_f] names more.
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] - this easily gets my vote. The others are lovely, but I just adore [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] (although I prefer [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]). [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] are lovely together, and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] just shimmers and shines. She’s beauty itself.
[name_f]Annaleigh[/name_f], anneliese and [name_f]Maelys[/name_f] sound too close to lisette in my opinion and for siblings it would bother me. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is definitely my favorite from your list. [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] sound like an adorable sib set!!
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is such a sweet name! While all the names on your list are nice… with [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] I vote for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]! What will her middle name be?
lisette is pronounced liss-ette, but we just call her lisse, sometimes lissie (liss-ee). I realize that could’ve been confusing!
also, [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is pronounced the [name_m]German[/name_m] way - on-uh-lee-zuh! not [name_f]Anna[/name_f]-lease or anything. just clarifying!
I think our two front runners are [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]!
First off, [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a gorgeous name.
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] / [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] nn [name_f]Anna[/name_f] - I love this, especially with the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation. Still “Lis” heavy though.
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - my favourite for you.
Maëlys - lovely name, but I won’t choose this as [name_f]Lisette[/name_f]'s sister because of the liese part.
[name_f]Analeigh[/name_f] / [name_f]Annalie[/name_f] - pretty name, but wait, does somebody said anally?
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] - nice. This is my second choice.
