Due next month, need some help!

I’m new - just made an account! [name_f]My[/name_f] fiance and I are expecting our first child together in [name_u]June[/name_u] and we havent decided on a name yet. I already have a 6 year old from a previous relationship called [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] but we’re not too concerned about how the names sound together. We don’t know the gender of this baby either.

Our favourite names atm are:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Darcie[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]

but we can’t decide, which do you think is best? And if you have any other suggestions then we’d be happy to hear them. The middle name with either be [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], depending on the first name. Our surname begins with W.

Thanks in advance

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - Great name! Sounds good with any of the middles, although probably the least good with [name_f]Marie[/name_f].

[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] - This name is pretty, but sounds kind of past its prime. It peaked in popularity rapidly a little while back. I might avoid it.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - Great name, also OK with any middle except maybe [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] - very nice name although I prefer it as a nn, it will forever feel a little casual. But still usable.

[name_f]Darcie[/name_f] - If you do this I might suggest spelling it [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] as that is what most people will default. While [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]/[name_f]Darcie[/name_f] is more feminine than [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], the two names are still so similar in style that it sounds a little like two brothers. I might suggest you go with something more different in style, less surname-y. I know you aren’t too concerned with how they sound together but it’s still something to keep in mind - this isn’t really about how they sound together either, they sound pleasant together, it’s more about the image.

[name_u]Everly[/name_u] - I like the sound but I don’t think this name has staying power, and my thoughts on surname names are similar to those for [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]. Would you consider [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] as a first name?

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] - great classic, love it.

[name_f]Erin[/name_f] - I have a soft spot for this one, it’s a family member’s name, but I know many people will find it passe. If you love it I strongly encourage you to consider it - there certainly won’t be a ton of other little Erins around which might be true for some of the others on your list. But, if you like some of the more on-trend names, they’ll probably get more universally positive reactions if that matters to you.

The only ones I really don’t like are [name_u]Everly[/name_u] (screams “I copied off of celebrities to name my child!”) and [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (very been there, done that).

As for middle names, [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] are very predictable/filler. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the idea of using either [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]!

I like…
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Darcie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], and [name_f]Erin[/name_f]!

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-beautiful, sweet name. A nn might be loose which I dislike though.
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]-beautiful, but seems like a 90s name…which really isn’t a big deal. There def won’t be as many little Jasmines now as there used to be 10-20 years ago which is a good thing.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]-one of my fave names.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]-one of my fave names and fine on it’s own. A lot of people here on nameberry love full, longer names, but I think this name is great just as is!
[name_f]Darcie[/name_f]-very cute, but as a teacher I prefer the most common spelling of [name_u]Darcy[/name_u].
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]-really like this name. It is definitely trendy, but very pretty. Much prefer over the older sounding name of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. Fresh and modern.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]-pretty but seems dated and a little boring to me.
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]-cute but common and dated (80s, 90s name).

I like all the mn especially [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. I think all the names sound fine with [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], but [name_u]Everly[/name_u] fits the best as far as style imo.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u]! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] would be stunning!
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] - Reminds me of the princess and of a mean girl I knew when I was young. Not a fan.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - Super pretty! Definitely getting more popular. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be gorgeous.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] - I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]SADIE[/name_f]! It might be my #1 girls name right now! [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] are all gorgeous.
[name_f]Darcie[/name_f] - I know someone I strongly dislike named [name_u]Darby[/name_u], so I can’t help make the connection. [name_f]My[/name_f] aunts dog was also named [name_u]Darcy[/name_u].
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. Was my #1 girls name for a while.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] - [name_f]Adore[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. I know so many nice [name_f]Emily[/name_f]'s. It’s a classic that will never grow old. But it is a bit boring.
[name_f]Erin[/name_f] - Not too big a fan. Not as beautiful as your other names on the list.

So I would eliminate [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] & [name_f]Erin[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a stunning combo. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a bit plain, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is lovely. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] rhymes.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is stunning. Avoid [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] - [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] rhymes. I like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] - [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is nice, but sounds like [name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. So [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - rhymes. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is much too close to [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. Leaving you with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is nice.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] - [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is way too plain. [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] would be your best bet.

Top 5:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]

I would have liked to include [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], but it just wasn’t as good as any of the others. [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] would be my [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] combo.

Hmm…
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]: incredibly popular in the UK but not my style. I dislike the [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] names like [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and of course [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] they remind of the word loose which doesn’t feel attractive. Favourite combination is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]

[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]: I like the name [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] it’s a light feminine choice with a pretty style. I think teamed with your middle names she works. Favourite combination is [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]

[name_f]Violet[/name_f]: I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name; she’s elegant, light, strong, and, has a cool preppy vibe. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a great name and I also like the [name_f]Letty[/name_f] nickname. Favourite combination is [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]: a fine name, not a favourite but she works well and has a cool southern vibe which sounds good with [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] as it seems to eat into that southern vibe. I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] sounds pretty.

[name_f]Darcie[/name_f]: a lovely name with great associations however I hate this spelling I think [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is a thousand times classier. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite combination is [name_f]Darcie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].

[name_u]Everly[/name_u]: a pretty modern name with a traditional vibe through the ‘eve’ connection. She has a lovely sound and just feels elegant. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite combination is [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

[name_f]Emily[/name_f]: a nice choice but slightly plain I prefer [name_f]Emma[/name_f] yes she is more popular but the ‘a’ gives a kick. I also like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite combination is [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

[name_f]Erin[/name_f]: meaning [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] she’s a green sound choice with a tomboy sound. She works but again isn’t a favourite. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite combination is [name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] & [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] : )

I think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Erin[/name_f] are definitely the prettiest, and I love them both.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites:
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]- I’m biased because it’s my name, but I really do like it! The suggestion of [name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]- Very popular, but I can see why. It’s timeless and classic
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]- I love this name on it’s own. It ages well and It’ so cute!
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]- I use to not like this name because it sounds like “violent”, but now I love it. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite color is purple, so I think that’s why I love it so much.

[name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are my favorite combos

Thanks everyone! Your comments are all helpful. I think my favourite atm is [name_f]Emily[/name_f], while my fiance really likes [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. Hopefully we’ll know when we see her (if it’s a girl, of course).

I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. All the best!

I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] little sister’s name is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]

I love [name_u]Everly[/name_u], but I loved it before the celebrities got to it. It saddens me that so many people on NB think it’s trendy, but it has never cracked the top 1000 before 2012 and in 2013 it was # 383. I think it’s a beautiful name, but I doubt I would use it now thanks to [name_u]Channing[/name_u] [name_u]Tatum[/name_u]. I can see [name_u]Everly[/name_u] becoming increasingly popular over the next few years, as it shares a similar vein with the very popular yet boring [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. :frowning:

[name_f]Erin[/name_f] has a soft spot for me because that is my sister’s name. Her middle name is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It’s no longer quite as popular as it used to be, so you aren’t likely to run into many other Erins.

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] reminds me of something you’d name your dog.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] is absolutely adorable.

[name_f]Darcie[/name_f] is one of my least favorites, to me there isn’t anything attractive about [name_f]Darcie[/name_f].

[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] reminds me of the Disney movie and while I love the smell of [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], the name doesn’t do it for me. Not to be offensive to anyone, but I find [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] slightly stripper-ish, along the lines of [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] and [name_f]Crystal[/name_f].

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] is sooo boring and overused. It’s like beating a dead horse.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is such a cute, sweet name and ages very well.

[name_f]My[/name_f] Picks:

[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

I’d suggest [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], or [name_f]Erin[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]: NMS, too cutesy.
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]: I like this one and I think now would actually be a good time to use it as it’s not as popular now.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]: I don’t really like flower names but I think this is definitely the best flower name as it’s underused.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]: NMS, too cutesy. To be totally honest it reminds me of a dog name.
[name_f]Darcie[/name_f]: NMS but this name does feel fresh. I prefer the [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] spelling.
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]: NMS I really dislike this one.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]: I personally feel like there are way too many [name_f]Emma[/name_f]/[name_f]Emily[/name_f]/[name_f]Emme[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]'s. I’m in my 20’s and it feels like everyone in my generation and bellow has one of these names.
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]: A bit plain but a solid choice.
