I haven’t been around for a while, and have been starting to think that this baby, if a girl, would have to name herself at the age of 2 like [name_f]Picabo[/name_f] [name_m]Street[/name_m]. LOL But, I think we’re close.
Of the names on my short list, the one that my husband has the most affection for is the late comer–[name_f]Olivet[/name_f]. It wasn’t my first choice, but it is really winning me over due to it’s unpretentious beauty and deep spiritual meaning.
However, what we really need in order to make a final decision is a middle name. I thought that would be easy–[name_f]Elaine[/name_f], after my husband’s grandmother–but he doesn’t like the combo.
His goals are classic, simple, and preferably floral/botanical.
I immediately thought of [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but then it occurred to me…our last name starts with a “K”, and her monogram would be a [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings monster. Yikes.
Our older daughters’ middle names are [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I’m trying to come up with something similar, that will connect [name_f]Olivet[/name_f] to our 1-sylllable, very [name_m]German[/name_m], “K” last name, without leaving her with undesirable initials.
Classic, simple, preferably bontanical/floral, hmm…
I, too, first thought of [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! But then I got thinking for some others…
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Plum[/name_f]
[name_f]Tulip[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Bluebell[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
Really classy middle names I thought of were:
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
It would be nice to name your daughter after her great grandmother. Perhaps you could use her middle or maiden names or one of these [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]-related names.
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] would be pretty.
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is sweet as well.
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] would work as well. Good luck!
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is lovely, however OIK might not be ideal initials.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] ([name_u]OAK[/name_u] might not be ideal either, but [name_u]Oak[/name_u] may further connect the name to nature)
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_u]Blaise[/name_u]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
I’ve come up with a short list for hubby. I would love some more ideas, though!
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Anabel[/name_f] (my grandmother’s middle name)
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] (a great aunt on my mother’s side of the family)
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] --this one has potential. It’s botanical, plus the related “[name_f]Laura[/name_f]” is a family name on both sides.
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]–I really like this one, too.
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f]–I’m not sure about it with our “K” last name, though. Might be too punchy?
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]–only because hubby suggested it as a first name. I like it, but it sounds late '90s to me
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Serene[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]–another grandmother’s name, not sure about “OJ”
[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]–Not that crazy about it, but simple enough that DH might go for it.
