My favorite combo is [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] Coulter but my favorite name on your list is Coulter. I just don’t like the way it goes with Kemp. What about Coulter [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] or Coulter [name_m]Milo[/name_m]?

I picked [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], but my favourite would be [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u].

If you are in the US I think a lot of people will associate Coulter with [name_f]Ann[/name_f] Coulter, the conservative journalist. I would want to steer away from a political name.

Coulter Kemp [name_u]Con[/name_u]- is harsh, abrupt, and jerky. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Con[/name_u]- flows well, but [name_u]James[/name_u] seems like a filler middle in this combo (unless, of course, it isn’t). [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] Coulter is both distinctive and flows nicely. It’s my favorite by far!

I love the name Coulter! Agree with everyone else, though- Kemp doesn’t work with it. Coulter [name_u]James[/name_u] would be lovely, though!

To be honest I think Coulter would be a bad choice solely because of its strong association with the very infamously mean-spirited conservative [name_f]Ann[/name_f] Coulter in the US.

[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a gorgeous choice!

I agree with others that I find Coulter too politically controversial to be usable, particularly in the first name slot. If you like [name_f]Ann[/name_f] Coulter, you may not have a problem with the association, but it’s unfair to saddle your child with such a blatant marker of your personal political leanings, which he may or may not grow up to share. If you have other reasons for liking the name (which in and of itself is quite handsome, imo), and really want to use it, please put it in the middle name spot. The association is strong, and Coulter’s relative rarity as a given name only reinforces that.

ETA: I’m in the US. If you are not, take this opinion with a grain of salt.

I picked [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] Coulter. After reading the posted comments I just want to say that I live in the US (keep up with politics) and [name_f]Ann[/name_f] Coulter did not come to mind at all until it was brought up in the comments. I think it is a great name and would not shy away from using it as a first name. However, I think Coulter is great in the middle spot and I like that your last name also begins with C. My daughter’s initials are EMM and I like how her middle and last name flow together. BTW [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] has always been a favorite of mine and I do not think you can go wrong with it. Another name similar to it, but less popular, is [name_u]Merritt[/name_u]… or [name_m]Merrick[/name_m]. Good luck with your naming decision and the baby’s delivery.

[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is a great name. Strong, masculine, defined and just the right amount of popular. It’s my favourite of all of all your choices, though I do like [name_m]Milo[/name_m] as well.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] an update, we named him [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] Coulter. It is dad’s middle name (had it long before anyone know who [name_f]Ann[/name_f] Coulter was) and mom’s favorite first name, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] may have to wait for the second boy.

Thanks for the update, I love to hear the final choice! congratulations!
