Okay so I already posted a thread seeking some help but I am still struggling with finding a name for my daughter who is due tomorrow. I probably still have a few weeks left since my other daughter was almost two weeks late but I would love to figure this out now.
Daughters name is [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. This is my absolute favorite name so I have had to deal with names I don’t like as much which is making it so difficult.
Name my husband likes is [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]. Now I am fine with [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] but it seems to be a name that can become more trendy soon with it being in a movie. I don’t want people to think that is the only reason we used it.
Names I like are:
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]: He is okay with this
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
Old fashioned but more rare
If it helps, I have no idea what movie you’re referring to. I don’t know any little girls named [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]! Of your list, I like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] or [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] best with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f].
Katlem333 had an amazing list… So many great ideas on there ([name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]!).
I was going to suggest…
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
Temperence
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] (though may not be an ideal fit with your other daughter?)
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] is nice. I don’t think anyone will think of the movie you’re thinking of and I definitely don’t think it’ll be trendy. [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] goes perfectly with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and the nickname [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] would be so cute. I think [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] goes together better with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] than your other choices. My second choice would be [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. If I could choose a name to go with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], I’d pick [name_f]Winifred[/name_f].
Can I just say that I absolutely adore the name [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]!
From your list I really like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] - both go with big sister [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]'s name. I do like [name_f]Constance[/name_f] too, but am not a big fan of [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] is really adorable and would complement [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] fine. And I wouldn’t worry too much about the possible rise in popularity.
I think these combos are wonderful:
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f] [name_f]Leonore[/name_f]
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f]
I’m a big fan of some of katiem333’s suggestions too:
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] - one of my all time faves
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - again, a favorite of mine.
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] - [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] and [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] is like music to my ears
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
Other suggestions from me:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Eudora[/name_f]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]/[name_f]Louella[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]
I love, love [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] is nice and has some cute nn possibilities. From your list, I really like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] and I love the suggestion of [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]. [name_f]Aggy[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] would be the cutest pair of sisters too.
Whenever I’ve thought of a sibset with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] though, I’ve always gone with [name_f]Edith[/name_f]. I don’t know why, but I just love [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] together. [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] would be lovely too.
I also vote for [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]…it’s adorable with [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]! My next favorite would be [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]. Good luck to you!!!
What about [name_f]Avis[/name_f]? I prefer [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] over [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], it feels fresher. I like [name_f]Constance[/name_f] but it feels a lot bolder than [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]. You are both gravitating towards names ending in “ess” sounds.
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Avis[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Ethel[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
Thanks so much for the responses everyone. There are some really good ones that I wish my husband liked. He is pretty set on [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]. So we will most likely use [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] for the first name. We both like [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for a full name.
If anyone has anymore recommends and even recommends on middles to go with [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] that would be an awesome help!
Sorry if this has already been said, but, what about [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]? Pronounced [name_f]May[/name_f]-v. [name_m]Just[/name_m] an alternative to [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]?
Hard to decide! Not a fan of [name_f]Leonore[/name_f], but I like the other three…especially due to their nicknames. [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] nn [name_f]Susie[/name_f] and [name_f]Constance[/name_f] nn Consie.
I absolutely love [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s going to skyrocket into a super popular name, so I wouldn’t worry about it. I also love [name_f]Constance[/name_f]! So I’d say those two are my favorites.
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a lovely combo and since [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] have similar meanings, it’s a nice subtle way to bring the sibs together! I do like [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] or [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] from your prior picks.
